"Bear Guzzles 33 Beers...Passes Out!!"

"A black bear was found passed out at a campground in Washington state recently after guzzling down three dozen cans of a local beer, a campground worker said on Wednesday. "We noticed a bear sleeping on the common lawn and wondered what was going on until we discovered that there were a lot of beer cans lying around," said Lisa Broxson, a worker at the Baker Lake Resort, 80 miles (129 km) northeast of Seattle. The hard-drinking bear, estimated to be about two years old, broke into campers' coolers and, using his claws and teeth to open the cans, swilled down the suds. It turns out the bear was a bit of a beer sophisticate. He tried a mass-market Busch beer, but switched to Rainier Beer, a local ale, and stuck with it for his drinking binge."

"Kerry Campaign Proposes Book-Banning!!"

I went and visited my local Books-A-Million and asked fer "Unfit to Command" and she said they were expecting a shipment in by Friday (today) at their central warehouse, but they couldn't tell me when it would be available in that store. Good thing was, she knew what I was talking about before I even finished my question, so I ain't the only dude lookin' fer it!! Heck, I reckon I'll just add to the Amazon.com numbers.

"Bugel's Dirtbags!!"

"Joe Bugel huddled with 10 offensive linemen in a meeting room at Redskins Park following the Washington Redskins' first minicamp in March. The assistant head coach for offense turned off the lights, then showed highlights of the Hogs, the famed offensive line Bugel guided under Coach Joe Gibbs in Washington from 1981 to 1989. Images flickered of linemen who began their NFL careers as obscure rookies, including Mark Schlereth, a 10th-round selection, and Raleigh McKenzie, an 11th-round pick. Jeff Bostic, one of the original Hogs, had been a long snapper before transforming into a top-flight center. "This is how we're going to do things here," Bugel told his new players, ranging from two-time Pro Bowl selection Chris Samuels to rookie Jim Molinaro, a sixth-round pick. "A picture is worth a thousand words. Everybody I'm going to show you on tape has a Redskins helmet on. They're your older brothers. "No matter where you're drafted, or even if you're not drafted, if you do those things, you'll always be a Redskin."

"The Dirtbags", eh?! It's gotta nice ring to it...MUD

"Alaska Ponders Trend-Setting Pot Initiative!!"

"ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The last frontier just may become the first state in the nation to legalize marijuana completely. Backers of a controversial ballot initiative want pot to be treated just like alcohol. If voters pass the measure, it would be legal to grow, smoke and sell any amount of marijuana so long as one is 21 years of age. The state would regulate the cannabis industry just like it licenses booze and cigarettes. "Alaskans are independent and I think Alaskans believe people should have the maximum freedom of choice," said Ken Jacobus, a pro-marijuana attorney. "Adults can choose cigarettes, they can choose alcohol."

Peace out, Alaska...MUD

Just thought I would post about Senator Allen's town hall meeting last night. I didn't see anybody from FR - no one that I recognized anyway.

I have never been to anything like that and I thought it was great. Sen. Allen took a lot of questions - none were scripted that I could tell. Lots of questions on homeland security - different aspects from border protection to identity theft to troop redeployment to attacks on our soil to strengthening the military. One question on health savings accounts. None on taxes - I wanted to ask one on fixing the alternative minimum tax mess but didn't get to. One question on the "increasing numbers of people without health insurance (from someone who works at Cross Over Health) and one question on having a federal law requiring local law enforcement have citizen review panels (he pretty much said forgeddaboutit to that one).

At the beginning, he introduced all the general assembly folks and Henrico county supervisors who were there. I started the applause for Janis. Reid was sitting three seats over from me. I shoulda freeped him. Or at least given him a piece of my mind. Oh well, maybe another time.

He spent a couple of minutes at the beginning talking about his priorities - which as we all know from his time as governor includes lowering taxes, reducing regulatory burdens, as well as strengthening the military.

An old friend of mine works for Sen. Allen so I got to meet him afterwards. He really comes across as a super nice person who is very well informed on our founding history and conservative (Jeffersonian) principles. There are times I wish he were still governor.

Well, I'm off to the beach next week. Ya'll have fun while I'm gone. Unlike Corin, I will NOT be taking a computer with me. I shall be a beach bum - catch some rays, enjoy the ocean, read trashy fiction and eat entirely too much.

Jack Reid? Why? He wasn't on the traitor list.

Or have I completely lost my mind? See, I told you I needed a vacation....

"Salon.com Alleges Illegal Coordination Between Bossie Movie/Bush Campaign!!"

"Exactly how "The Big Picture" was financed, and how much it will cost, remain mysterious. A tantalizing clue, however, showed up in a July 19 post on the right-wing Free Republic Web site, where someone nicknamed Smogger sought guidance from fellow Freepers about a political donation: "Who is Dave Bossie and Citizens United?" asked Smogger. "I just gave them $50 that they claim they are going to use to create a movie to praise the efforts of George Bush and to counter Farenheit 911 [sic]. They said they were trying to raise $500,000 in 30 days for this effort. I assume they got my number from the RNC. "Anyone else receive this phone solicitation? It's so hard to keep track with GWB and RNC calling every other day. I tried to access the Citizens United website but it appears down. I hope I did the right thing."

Hey Smogger...Salon.com's using yer comment to allege that the Bush Campaign is illegally coordinating with a 527!!

LOL...Who says the DemonRATS don't listen to what we say?!

Here's a oldie but a goodie from the FR history...

So, which of these criminals are going to vote to give us our money back when the truth FINALLY gets more play that TAX REVENUES ARE COMING IN AHEAD OF PROJECTIONS THIS YEAR!!!!!!! They absolutely did not "need" to raise our taxes by $1.3B when revenues are coming in like they are.

I was searching to figure out which of those guys didn't show up at that meeting. Turns out, I totally mis-remembered. Janis failed to show up not Reid as I mistakenly thought. My birthday is coming up and my brain just doesn't work as well as it used to.

I know I missed some folks - so sorry.

I also am so sorry I was never able to make it to Richmond this summer.........between the weather, an eyesight issue of mine and sundry other things called life......I hope y'all understand.

I am glad we were able to get to the FReep in Norfolk - it was the only day of my husband's vacation that did not rain.

You comment reminds me of that Staples ad that has the "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" Christmas song and the parent is happily running through the Staples store buying school supplies. That ad always cracks me up - and I don't have kids!
