Saddam probably knows where a lot of European skeletons are buried. If Saddam is demanding to see his French lawyer he better be careful what he asks for.

SADDAM Hussein has suffered a stroke and could die before facing trial, a member of his legal team has claimed.

Jordanian lawyer Mohammed al-Rashdan said a brain scan had indicated the stroke.

"Our information is that he's in very poor health," he said.

This conflicts with comments this week by an Iraqi minister who visited Saddam and found him depressed but fit.

Mr Rashdan told a London newspaper he also believed an attempt could be made on Saddam's life.

"Under the Geneva Convention, we're entitled to have access to our client but all our requests have been ignored," he said.
