The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Australia and Italy have received warnings through a statement purportedly from militants linked to al Qaeda that demanded those countries withdraw troops from Iraq.

We are the "Stotters" who make ourselves aware of the enemy who wishes to do us harm.

To my fellow New Yorkers: Please stay very alert of your surroundings. Keep supplies close. Keep open a way of communication with loved ones. (If possible)

This message should be blasted from every rooftop, TV, radio, etc. in and around the New York area. Instead there will be no such concern and many, many innocent people may be killed if such an attack occurs. They do not want to risk the possibility of being accused of crying wolf each time these threats surface. Trouble is, it will only take one time that the threat is indeed serious.

I am in LA....only the ABC station is airing Tom Ridge. Every other channel has paid programming or other junk.

Summary of Ridge's conference:

Considerable detail and specific, quality information led to decision to raise national security level.

Preferred method of attack is truck bombings.

Significant institutions that relate to our leadeship role in the world. Physical destruction of the facilities would not affect their ability to transact business.

Intelligence comes from multiple sources and multiple locations.

With information like this comes action, and action will be forthcoming.

New York, Northern NJ, DC ( and VA suburbs) are target locations. Sources cite specific accounts of AQ surveilance being conducted agaisnt the targeted sites and areas.

Excellent synopsis and most assuredly accurate. IMHO usually there are other people involved or knowledgeable from the criminal end. My questions, who was her contact here and where are they?

Ridge on threat - Incredibly specific detail. Analytical piece associated with this specifies car and truck bombs. More of an "iconic" attack. Nature of intelligence comes from multiple locations/sources. Ridge hoping that persons working/traveling in those locations would show resolve and defiance of threats and go about their business seeking advice from their employers. No reason to think that other specific financial targets (ie. Chicago) involved. But not ruling out need for raised awareness. New York is already on orange level - doesn't think Commissioner Kelly taking it to red. Surgical application of warning relates more to intel than attempt to keep security costs down across nation. Reasonable to infer that economic targets their primary focus.... Good grief.
