Australia and Italy have received warnings through a statement purportedly from militants linked to al Qaeda that demanded those countries withdraw troops from Iraq.

Technical glitch grounds American flights

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A computer glitch grounded American Airlines flights from coast to coast for two hours Sunday morning before the problem was corrected, a company spokesman said.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Diane Spitaliere said she believed the glitch also affected US Airways. Representatives of the airline did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

Spitaliere said the FAA was alerted to the problem Sunday morning, and both carriers asked the FAA's air traffic controllers to help communicate with planes to keep them on the ground until the problems were fixed.

The operating system that drives the airline's flight plans went down about 6 a.m. CDT and was restored shortly after 8 a.m., spokesman John Hotard said.

"We did what we call a ground stop and all flights were grounded," Hotard said. "It's a computer problem and it is now back up, so we have resumed operations."

The grounding affected about 150 flights, he said.

American planned to run its full daily schedule of 2,400 flights, but delays were expected.

"All flights could run up to two hours behind," Hotard said.

A few incoming international flights were in the air at the time of the grounding and continued to their U.S. destinations, he said.

Hotard said the problem was purely technological.

Five Britons, Three Irish Hurt in Prague Bomb Blast



Five Britons and three Irish men were injured in Prague today when attackers reportedly detonated a bomb in a packed tourist area.

At least two of the Britons and the three Irish were sitting together at a cafe in the centre of the historic city when the explosion went off.

All eight were taken to hospital, but none of the injuries was thought to be life-threatening.

ugh, my very good friend, her husband and their 3 kids are going to Italy this coming wednesday - for either 1 wk or 10 days!

I am in the area too. What do you guys think for a best guess for the type of attack or location?

Do you think a nuke or severe attack is possible or do you think it would be more of a localized bomb/car bomb?

I tend to think it would be more the latter. Still dangerous if you are in the vacinity or location, but not as destructive as a total nuke would be to the entire tri-state area.

Interested in hearing how you both are planning or thinking in this area. I hate brainstorming with myself...I always end up arguing with myself :)
