Backup electrical systems failed to kick in

A mysterious power failure at Logan Airport that delayed dozens of flights for more than five hours has still not been explained – six days later.

Airport officials insist airline security was not compromised during the blackout Monday at Logan International's Terminal E, but backup electrical systems failed to kick in as they are programmed under such circumstances.

Got back from my 16-day camping trip & I see I'm hopelessly behind. Spent the last 2 days just catching up on Thread 13 (Awesome, JP!)

Just a little "survivor tip" to add to dweller's and granny's oft-repeated suggestions: DO NOT FORGET TO STOCK UP ON NECESSARY SUPPLIES IN ADVANCE, OR BE PREPARED TO PAY EXHORBITANT COSTS IN TIME OF NEED.

EXAMPLE: Bottles of propane for Coleman cookstoves or Coleman lanterns. These can normally be purchased for under $2/bottle at WalMart. The general store within the State Park was selling these same cylinders for $4.95 a bottle. There are only 2 stores within 30 miles of this park, and their prices were $5.99 per bottle.

I would imagine this principle holds true for most supply necessities. Just a word to the wise...

There was a Pakistani that died of apparent radiation poisoning in Kearny, New Jersey in late October 2001. Subsequent to that incident, an illegal immigrant was found dead in San Diego. Similar symptoms to the New Jersey case. I'm not certain how relevant this is after two years.

Yes, trace the thread up. The Pakistani that was alleged with radiation poisoning is Muhammad Rafiq Butt. From the info that I have, that was a gum disease. His cause of death was officially the heart; yet treated Tetracycline for gingivitis.

If this is not the case; than the real info is classified.

You can also get adapters to let you run the campstoves on bulk propane (i.e. barbecue tanks or larger), which is much more economical if portability is not an issue. I happen to know that because I list them on Ebay.

Maybe these locations are at a safe distance from the target area but within a few hour trip? People would have to be relocated out of the area of destruction.

Spies to monitor city Muslims: report

From correspondents in London
July 12, 2004

BRITAIN will deploy teams of intelligence officers and surveillance experts in cities where it is feared that extremists are radicalising Muslim youth, according to The Times.

The internal security service, M15, would fan officers out from its London HQ in a bid to snuff out any incipient terrorist threats within urban Muslim communities, the paper said, citing "government sources".

It was hoped the scheme would greatly improve co-operation between special police services and counter-espionage officers, it reported.

I've beem doing CAD work for days. Two projects, each hotter than the other, and one of my clients has two more in the queue when we make shipment next month.

Sure beats last year, though...

Nope. I just can't work up much enthusiasm for playing with fecal matter. I'll deal with it if it's impacting my environment, but I don't see much point in looking for it...

Anyway, I'm glad you have time to be here.
