FBI urges vigilance for July 4

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

Anyone remember that scare in DC durring Reagan's services that required the Capital to be evacacuated? Here is the scoop...It was carring the governer of KY and was almost shot down:

"At 4:31 p.m., with the plane a minute or two from downtown Washington, officials ordered the evacuation of the U.S. Capitol, where thousands had gathered to await the arrival of Reagan's coffin. The FAA reported to air defense authorities that it was in contact with the plane three minutes later, as the aircraft made the final approach to National Airport."

I know just what you mean. I have a photograph of thousands of suitcases sitting in a common area waiting for customs inspections after debarkation from a cruise ship. The very thought of so much luggage entering a ship without being individually inspected would now keep me from taking a cruise again. Just because it's gone through airline security means nothing. The luggage does not go directly from the plane to the ship and neither do the passengers.
