FBI urges vigilance for July 4
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

Great! Do you eat the new Cheerios with the dried berries? Love it.
Your list:
Strawberries
Cherries
Blueberries
Raspberries
Huckleberries someday
Would be, for me:
Blueberries, rasberries, cheries, strawberries huckleberries and gooseberries.
Perhaps followed by liche's, mangoes, . . .
Well now, that sounds good too.
We just went to a July 4 celebration where my son got to meet a REAL Marine in UNIFORM!!! He was quite impressed. Based on the attitude of the Marine we met, I think those jihadis holding the Marine would be well advised to dust off the guys hat, apologize profusely, refer to him as Sir, and drive him back safely to his base. The Marines are somewhat ticked right now.
I don't have any updated info on the situation at LAX, other than there is a sig-alert regarding that stretch of the 405 freeway that certain lanes are shut down for "unknown duration".
My duaghter called our friend back to tell her we can't find any info online or tv. Our friend said that after the bomb squad was let through the traffic started moving again, and she was beyond the area where airplanes are stacked up waiting to land. She said there were no airplanes landing or taking off during the 15-20 minutes she was stopped there.
Our friend will be returning this evening after dinner and will let us know what the situation is there at that time. The time here now is 5:10 pm.
Thank you! Jill is digging and has found (if I read it right) that traffic is moving again.
Long read but full of information...
Americans' view of an al-Qaida terrorist is wrong
By Robert S. Boyd
Knight Ridder News Service
WASHINGTON -- Most Americans have a false idea of the shadowy, worldwide terrorist network led by al-Qaida, according to a former CIA operative who collected the life histories of almost 400 members of the deadly movement.
The stereotype that these terrorists are poor, desperate, single young men from Third World countries, vulnerable to brainwashing, is wrong, Marc Sageman told an international terrorism conference in Washington last week.
Most Arab terrorists he studied were well-educated, married men from middle- or upper-class families, in their mid-20s and psychologically stable, said Sageman, a psychiatrist at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Many of them knew several languages and traveled widely.
But when they settled in foreign countries, they became lonely, homesick and embittered, he said. They felt humiliated by the weakness and backwardness of their homelands. They formed tight cliques with fellow Arabs and drifted into mosques more for companionship than for religion. Radical preachers convinced them it was their duty to drive Americans from Muslim holy lands, killing as many as possible.
Characteristics of al-Qaida
Here are some of the al-Qaida-linked network's characteristics, based on Marc Sageman's study. The sample totaled 382 names. There are fewer names in each of the subsets because of incomplete data.

Flash mob won't work for me, did they have a calender of future events?
thanks
Maybe Piper will close her eyes, if you bring this over, as
I couldn't get in to read it.
thanks
Marines can be inspirational.
And I don't flinch. Nor do I blink.
All clear now, or at least it looks that way from the CAD print out.

Yes, there is a calendar of future events along with software for searches, email tracking, newsletters, and more.
I am hearing bells.
didn't this happen a month or so ago? Where?
Is this the new attack vehicle, drive into any thing you want to destroy?
Steal a vehicle and go for it.
You're right, it does sound familiar. ... Why would a guy from Michigan being slamming his SUV into the Fort Lauderdale airport terminal?
And they have the prettiest uniforms of all the services! C'mon confess, there's somethin' about a marine in that Dress Blue uniform that sets a girl's heart all "aflutter!"
My heart goes to the 82nd Airborne.
