If there were no restrictions on age, weight, fitness, etc., would you sign up to join the War on Terror??
This is a vanity poll, due to the news today that the Army may be dipping into the Individual Ready Reserve pool. Several Freepers have indicated they would go if called upon, but they don't think they will be called due to their age.
Please post ONLY ONCE, and ONLY IF YOU WOULD GO, so that we can easily see the tally by looking at the number of replies.

I would be a better soldier now then I was the first time.
Your going to have a whole division or two here in an hour.
The Screamin "Bald" Eagles and the "Big Old One" are ready for action.

I'm old & slow (by some standards), but I can still outshoot most of my contemporaries and I don't like ragheads.......

Well, you know, BtD, I'm 55 and got out of the Army Signal Corps 31 years ago with the rank of first looie. If they need a guy to run a motor pool, teach a military justice class or go 2-out-of-3 as a court-martial prosecutor -- and they make me an O-3 -- we could talk about it.
But I'd need to drop 30 pounds. We got some serious PT issues here.

Age 50 - 18 at a time when I was stupid, coincidentally when the draft had come to a complete stop.
One of my greatest regrets = not serving my country in the military. I'd go now and fight.

Much rather fight the French. The french don't fight. Unless you count backstabbing as fighting.

Sure, if I could just put away 40 years, 80 pounds, a hiatal hernia, hypertension, incipient diabetes, and diverticulosis.

I did my time many years ago. But I do have a nominee for hostage in the war on terrorNo can do. The terrorists would end up paying us to take him back.

36 years old, good physical shape, questionable sanity, no previous service, general disregard for the lives of the enemies of my nation...I'd go.
Now, where do we go to resurrect Teddy Roosevelt in order to form a new USV division?

At an overweight 52 yrs old I would be little help on the front lines, much to my disappointment. I realize that I serve best by supporting the economic engine that funds our military.

My husband, a CH-46 helicopter pilot, would go back in a heartbeat. He tried to "unretire" but they weren't taking people off the retired list at the time.

I'm 41, chunky, being daddy to three of my own, blind as a bat, got allergies from hell and migraines to match, but I can fly a keyboard with the best of 'em, and if you put me behind a mike, I'd talk anybody into and outta the sky if necessary.
