Are rich Democrats stupid?

I just read where Hillary made the following comments in a speech:

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you," Sen. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

So, I was just wondering if rich democrats are stupid? Someone tells them they are going to rob them, and they pay to get to hear this? What is wrong with this picture?

I never understand this BS. "So well off that Tax Cuts may have helped you". I immediately started getting something like $40/week take home when the cuts came last year. I think Democrats come in three flavors: stupid, guilt-ridden, and evil. Most are stupid, which is why they are in the lower socio-economic class to begin with. If you're too dumb to figure out how to succeed, you'll buy the message that the government is there to help you out. Greed also plays into it. Money for nothing and the chicks for free, as the song goes.

There are intelligent Democrats. They tend to be wealthy, although wealth is not a reliable indicator of intelligence (see Barbra Streisand, et al). They tend to be guilt-ridden and sincerely want to help the stupid and poor Democrats do better. They want to use your money to do that.

Then there are the evil Democrats. They understand the other two flavors of Democrats and try to exploit them for political and economic advantage. The Clintons would be a good example of this flavor, but I'm sure you can think of others.

It is not a matter of stupid. You see, the RICH Democrats will still be rich so they don't mind losing a few thousand a year. What they really want is to widen the gap between rich and poor and make it virtually impossible to become "rich" by taxing the middle class into poverty. The see themselves as the deservedly priveleged ruling class and simply cannot stand the thought of having to share the country club with the rabble.

No, they are *NOT* stupid. If you are really rich, you have more money than you need to buy *THINGS*, so you end up spending money to buy *POWER* and *INFLUENCE*.

The reason that the super rich are frequently leftists is two fold. Many second generation rich feel guilty since they didn't do anything to deserve their money other than being born. Poppa and/or momma were smart and worked their bums off to make the money -- THEY probably weren't leftists.

But the other reason is more subtle: by promoting socialism, the ruling elites cut the legs out of a growing middle and upper class and avoid the accumulation of wealth which will compete with their wealth.

Think about it: if Bill Gates loses HALF of his wealth, so what? he is still rich beyond imagination and can still buy politicians to do his bidding.

an interesting example of socialism and the super-rich? look at England right after the war. Most of its factories were INTACT and unbombed. Germany's and Japan's factories were bombed to smithereens and were replaced BRAND NEW using the latest technology.

Solution for the super-rich factory owners in England on how to compete with their obsolete, decrepit factories? easy... punt - sell them to the socialist government in the UK!!! let the British tax payers worry about it -- the British gov't paid far too much for these musty old factories and lost a fortune running them until Maggie came along and got rid of them...

Many of them have guilt feelings about their success. But instead of giving money to charity out of their own pockets, they prefer to take it out of the pockets of other taxpayers, whom they probably think of as evil conservatives who deserve to get whacked.

They are not stupid they are just phony! When I was growing up in the 60's I remember the Democrats were pointing out how important and what an opportunity it is for all of us to pay our taxes at a high rate so government could spend. there was no talk of taxing the rich. But, the GOP won the election of '68 and before Nixon could take office the 'rat's Treasury Secretary went to the hill and began talking about how the rich were not paying there fair share of taxes and about how they had all kinds of loopholes to avoid them. Well such a hew and cry went up as the 'rats demanded that the rich pay the taxes. of course all the Kennedy's, Metzenbaum's, Pells and all of the other rich 'rats were toking the side of the common man in demanding that they pay there share. by the '76 elections even Stennis and Eastland had joined in. This is what they were going to do they were going to take away tax loop holes. So what happens? The 'rats win and put or shut up time comes and what happens? Nothing!!! According to an article in New Republic called Malibu Liberals Mo Udall told President jimmy that there was no interest in tax reform after all the "rats said to get the rich to pay there taxes when the time came not even libs like Udall were interested. do you smell something phony? sure enough the next thing Carters suddenly finds we need capitol gains tax reductions and signs the bill. Mean while guess what happens? you got it suddenly the 'rats decide that the middle class should have capital gains paid on the "profits" from selling there homes in double digit inflation and that change is made. Well according to the above mentioned article in New Republic Teddy Kennedy is giving a a speech to the wealthy California Democrats in a fund raising dinner( you know Hollywood Liberals). He gets standing ovations for spending you know who's money, but then when he says the rich ought to pay their share of the taxes everything goes stone cold! Well as luck would have it Reagan gets elected and it comes time to lower taxes ( of course there are just enough Dem votes to do it. But when the deficits start piling up guess what the "rats want to repeal first? You got it tax bracketing for the middle class. So again we hear about how the rich are not paying there taxes and then Clinton is elected. He says he is going to raise taxes on the rich and guess what after the top wealthy tax payers see there rates droop from 70% to 32% he raises it to to 34%. A real cosmetic change! GOP wins the mid term elections and take control of Congress and suddenly they talk about giving tax breaks to wealthy contributors. I thought no way! But, they apparently knew more then I did, because lo and behold after they give there due to wealthy Democrats they pass a by partisan tax bill to give breaks to the wealthy and privileged. During the second Bush administration Mr W also says he is going to lower taxes for the rich again. This time of course there is just enough Dem votes to pas it as always. But if they really wanted to stop it they could of filibustered and ended it. Of course they didn't. there is nothing like appearances. of course the 'rats are still trying to claim that they are going to help the middle class tax payers, but last moth another tax bill was past giving 900 pages of tax breaks to business passed the Senate. A pure pork barrel and of course nothing to the rest of us. And lo if the votes weren't 92-5. it seems like all but 5 Dem
proved themselves as total frauds. No rich Dem's aren't stupid. they are in fact very smart. When will we learn their game.

With all due respect -- YES.
My wife works for a wealthy - VERY wealthy filthy rich Republican family. And they are some of the nicest people I've ever met. Not phony, not pretentious, NOT like RAT limousine liberals. And he got his money the old fashioned way, he earned it. In fact, he won the Horatio Alger award for his 'rags to riches' life achievements.

As to money shielding them from 'harsh realities' that we deal with, well that's not so. They have to deal with plumbing problems, leaky roofs, dead car batteries and other mundane stuff just like 'real people'.

Now I'll grant you, there are 'country club' republicans I wouldn't p** on, but I think they are all in the Senate anyway. :-)

If the Democrats would have their way, they would take from the rich and distribute enough of the money through entitlement programs and tax schemes to create a majority of voters that pay no taxes thus ensuring Democrat control in perpetuity.

This is the end game for them. They leave out the last two chapters. Next to last chapter - economy crumbles and we approach third world status. Last chapter - we kick their @ss in a civil war and take the Republic back.

But the beauty of the universe is that a lot of money (the more the better) cancels out all the consequences of stupidity, with the possible exception of death.
