A patriotic puzzle
By Owen Thomas
We all know the American flag is red, white, and blue, but take another look around. You'll see plenty of other things that are red, white, blue, or some combination of them. Many such objects are associated with the July 4 holiday. We asked a Monitor photographer to see how many red, white, and blue things he could photograph.
These mysterious photos (PDF; 179K) were the result. How many of them can you figure out? Look at the pictures, read the clues, and then check the answers.
You will need Adobe Acrobat to view this file.
Oh, yeah. I REALLY liked it. I uploaded it to my website after I saw your post and before my ping.Really good. Thank you so much for your researching to find it and posting it. :^D
Hi Mayor..happy to see you too. A WONDERFUL day for our president. Assume you have spent much of the evening on Russ's house. God bless you for that. G'night!
Thank you dutchess. Good to see you. Things have been pretty intense here lately.
Our Prayers are up for all of your family Nan!
Thank you for the prayers Colleen. We just have to get Kelly through the first six weeks (two down, four to go). She will be vulnerable during that length of time. Her blood pressure shoots up and she goes into seizures. It happened before they took the baby. That is why they had to take her early. Then it happened again Friday and she almost didn't make it. Our son was freaking out. She may have a problem with him when she wants another baby.
Thank you! :^D

wow! I've been here to long. I can only imagine where it would be if I didn't lose almost a year in Virginie..
It sounds like Russ is doing remarkably well after such a fall. We will pray that Noah gets "Daddy" back.
You're Welcome :-)
Yes he is doing well considering.
It's the power of Prayer !!
Yes, she needs Daddy back.
Thank you Rus. You're a good man.
Almost there myself!
Thank you!
It is such a relief the very worst has passed, and she now can heal, and have the baby with her in the Maternity Ward.
Prayers will stream daily for all concerned ---
What a day for GWB and America and Iraq and the world!!
Hopefully, God will intervene and allow things to go better for this now fledgling nation.
Excerpts from Ask.com to support my memories of History:
"Go check the Code of Hamarabi. It's the oldest known code of civil law -- "
"Mesopotamia art was centered in what are now Iran and Iraq. The developing cultures (Assyrians, Sumerians, Babylonians, etc) in the area, between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, which is sometimes called the Cradle of Civilization or the Fertile Crescent, are credited with the invention of cuneiform writing which is shown to us in the Stele (law code) of Hamarabi."
"You have heard that it was said, Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth." Here Jesus is quoting the oldest known law, called the Lex Telianus. It was the "eye for an eye" for "tit for tat." Its what you do to me, I get to do to you back.
It was actually found written in the Code of Hamarabi who wrote this law for the Babylonians in 2285BC.
You also find it mentioned in Exodus, Chapter 21; its in Leviticus 24 and Deuteronomy 19. This law was a law that existed for a long period of time, and as we look at it with this whole idea of an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth, it can look like a law of vindication. Almost a violent law.
But thats not what the intention was at all. In fact, what was really meant by this law was that it was meant to restrict, or put limitations on, how much we could retaliate when someone did something to us."
Wonder what "law" will now be imposed on Saddam Hussein by his peers - -
I couldn't resist, just had to post this again :-)
Thank You for Military Monday. Greatly appreciated! Good Night All
Military Monday bump. God bless our service folk. It is their sacrifices, hard work, attention to detail, sense of duty and honor that have made this day possible. And the left continues to stew.
Good night, dear Colleen --- and Lucy, too ---
From my home town. Did not know Bruce, I was friend's with his brother in highschool.
God Bless All
Thanks for your post, Dubya
