Update:
IRAQ HANDOVER 'TODAY'
The handover of power in Iraq is to be brought forward to today.
A formal announcement will be made later today, Tony Blair said.
The informal announcement was made by Iraq's foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari.
The handover of power to an interim Iraqi government was supposed to take place on June 30.
Mr Zebari said the deteriorating security situation in the country was one of the reasons why the date had been brought forward.
"We will challenge these elements in Iraq, the anti-democratic elements, by even bringing the handover of sovereignty before June 30 as a sign we are ready for it," he said.
He added: "We have made some very good progress in terms of the new security council (in Iraq) and the return of sovereignty to the Iraqi people to take away the level of occupation we have suffered a great deal from.
"There are many Iraqis who are standing up to the challenge. We are here to seek more help and assistance, training and equipment."
FoxNews did announce it at the bottom of the hour....
I am sure it will repeat at the top of the hour...
Y'all take care over there, ok? Though I haven't been at FR a lot lately, you've been on my mind and in my prayers for your safety. Especially lately.
SWEET! Thanks for the ping.
'Tis exactly 10:49 a.m. in Baghdad.
We have still been told nothing official about the handover.
It's on Cbc Late news now. Thay don't know how spin this yet!!
You bettcha, dear friend.I'm smiling from ear to ear. :-)
Didn't you leave out an "r"?
LOL
Been watching cnn. They have drifted into morose mode. Just reminds me of why I prefer FOX.
FRegards...
Anyone familiar with the Canadian political humour rag called Frank has read the term bingocallers for talking heads on tv for years. I always loved the term myself. If it catches on here on FR it will be even greater.
Torture will now be in again.
Kerry and Dems must "talk down" every bit of progress. As always, good news for America (and George Bush) is bad news for the Demonrats and Ted Kennedy.
Yep. The Dems would announce an early handover just to get the publicity..without any regard for the consequences.
Went over to DU, it's a laugh riot!

Be careful and stay safe!
The US and its allies must purge Iraq from the militant Islamic ideology before giving them too much power, weapons and training, or else risking all that being turned against US forces. There have already been cases of this happening, where Iraqi police aided terrorists, or soldiers simply deserting and giving weapons to terrorists. In addition, militant Islamic language has already been heard from those who will lead Iraq, specifically towards Jews and Israel, or that they will give amnesty to terror forces. The insitutions of this ideology must be eliminated, or else Iraq will fail to achieve what the free world wants and simply return to what it was before Saddam was taken down.
You'll never know how much I appreciate all of the prayers I can actually feel are being said. I frequently ask God to bless abundantly all of the good people who are praying for me.
He's got my back. :-)
This is a stroke of genius. My hat's to all the planners ... and, of course, the men and women of the U.S. military. Bravo!
As usual. LOL
You take care... I know everyone's been saying that, but I predict a lot of firing of weapons into the air (isn't that what Arabs do? Or is that just Palestinians?) and have a great day, whatever the afternoon brings.
It's late afternoon where I am... just before five pm AEST, actually - makes me smile to think how our early evening news boys and girls are gonna have to scramble, with this news...
Bring out the heavy equipment for crosslinking. You're going to have your work cut out for you my friend.
Are they having hissy fits?
