You take care... I know everyone's been saying that, but I predict a lot of firing of weapons into the air (isn't that what Arabs do? Or is that just Palestinians?) and have a great day, whatever the afternoon brings.
It's late afternoon where I am... just before five pm AEST, actually - makes me smile to think how our early evening news boys and girls are gonna have to scramble, with this news...
It would be gauche if US Forces took out a bunch of Iraqis wildly firing into the air.
Oh, yeah, they do.
Last month, we were sitting outside on camp one evening and tracers began going up all over the sky, followed by machine gun fire that ringed the whole perimeter. We thought we were under attack, but were somewhat nonplused as this sort of thing had happened before and the good folks in the military had quelled it without any problems.
The next day we found out that it was because the Iraq national soccer team had won an upset victory getting them closer to qualifiying for the Olympics and they were celebrating. We all thought that was hilarious when we found out.
By the way, if I decide to do another year here, I plan on coming "down under" for one of my R&R trips.
