MSNBC just said Crown Prince Abdullah will be making a statement at 5pm eastern today.

You're absolutely correct - We all have had a belly full of this 'Religion of peace' crap. Bush will do nothing (wouldn't be prudent, at this juncture' y'know). You will hear no widespread condemnation of this, either from Muslims in the U.S. or anywhere else for that matter. I'm waiting to see what average Americans are going to do, in regards to the Islamic pukes in our country, who are smugly enjoying this slaughter of innocents. If all hell finally breaks loose, Bush will not be able to stop it. It will be over for his reelection chances too, I believe.
The reaction of the average American would be quite different if the average American was given the choice to see grim reality.
there's a big difference in reaction to the words "someone was beheaded" and watching the deed being done.
I am so damned angry, that I wish they'd all show it by surprise at dinner time time news. But making an attempt to be rational, there is no reason why a media outlet cannot announce that they will be showing such a video after 11 pm and to warn people that it is graphic.
I do not believe that the media has the right to censor such video's while they so happily show us over and over the quite "shocking" pictures of naked men piled on top of one another, so they can scream how awful Americans are.

I hope the GOP uses it.

May I suggest 100 MOABS? We don't HAVE a 100 MOABS. IIRC, we only have 3.

My point is that Hitler did not represent Christianity. He did consider himself to be a Christian for most of his career, though. He was an altar boy and remained a member of the Catholic church until he died. He considered his work to be God's work. True, he renounced Christianity in '41, but that doesn't change my point; others in the world would have been wrong to condemn his religion because of his actions.

Just waking up in Australia to be greeted with this horrible news.
My thoughts are with Paul Johnson's family.
I'm surprised the media is still covering this, after all it happened over two hours ago! I'm sure they will get back to burying us with those "prison torture" photographs any minute now. (this paragraph = sneering sarcasm)
To: AngryJawa
The liberal media powers-that-be know that these images will anger the majority of Americans into demanding action. Any actions that result in a more powerful and secure America are, to them, unacceptable. Especially if prosecuted under a Republican president. Oh, yes, I know. My question was really just rhetorical. The media and many in govt just want us to be placid cows. Just sitting out here chewing our cud. They sure as heck don't want us putting 2 thoughts together.

"No Joke we are starting to look like a bunch of wimpie weenies...and the Muslim Countires know that! once they are scared to death of us they will stop!"
No argument that we look wimpy. But few can argue of the viciousness of the Israeli responses to terrorism over the years, yet that hasn't hindered Islamic terrorism there.

I feel a Kipling evening coming on.
That is how the Brits held India in the heyday of the Raj, absolute ruthlessness and barbarian punishments.
Any gesture of violence against the person of a Brit was ruthlessly punished and collective punishment was the order of the day, as in the poem.
The Calcutta mutineers when captured, were strapped over the mouths of howitzers I believe. Not pretty, but savagery is all they understood.
There was no reasoning with them.
Sound familiar?

"I hereby recommend the execution of each and every one of the Al Qaeda prisoners they were asking to be released."
Can't do that. We cannot sink to their level. The fact that we don't behead prisoners is what sets us apart from the evil terrorists. We are civilized.

I am posting the following Biblical quotation because as I was driving back down to my home in Ocean County, NJ the words of this verse kept going through my head over and over again. I used to think the stuff in Revelation about beheading was just some figurative stuff or a reference to martyrs of the Roman empire. We are living the see how these prophecies can come to fruition in our very time. We must wake up. We are in a clash of civilizations. We are in a religious war. Even if you are a secularist, atheist or agnostic, in the minds of Islamists, if you are a non-Islamic westerner, you are a Chrisitan or Jewish and are your head is at risk. I know I sound extreme, but I am upset.
Revelation 20
1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

One of those so-called condemnations, by the peace-loving group Hezbollah, included this gem:
The timing of this act that overshadowed the scandal over the abuse of Iraqi prisoners in occupation forces prisons is suspect timing that aims to serve the American administration and occupation forces in Iraq and present excuses and pretexts for their inhumane practices against Iraqi detainees," read the statement carried by Reuters.
Sounds to me like they were more concerned that the murder of Nicholas Berg distracted the attention of the media from the mistreatment of some Iraqi prisoners. That's quite a different story from consistently condemning barbaric acts committed in the name of Islam (which is Hezbollah's own stock in trade).
