LIVE THREAD--Reagan State Funeral Ceremony: Lying in State at the Rotunda (6/11/04)
Well, isn't SHE a piece of work!
And for her to offer that Biden's grandstanding was the historic moment of the week reaches the heights of absurdity (wishful thinking, since evidently she supplies an an affirmative answer to his "question).
I am so glad I mainly steered clear of MSNBC today.
I do confess I went back briefly an hour or two ago in time to hear Doug Brinkley tell us that Reagan's presidency had it's "low points" and he went on to decry Reagan's civil rights record (this is Brinkley speaking), the Concentration Camp visit, and of course *Iran Contra*. Evidently the liberal pundits are holding out hope that the outpouring is but emotional zeal and the "facts" as they would have it will someday triumph.
I know beyond a doubt that their spin will never gain the upper hand. Never.
Abraham Lincoln grew up in Illinois but was born in Kentucky.
That was Major General Galen Jackman. He also escorted Presdident Bush on Memorial Day when the president laid the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
"From my 1929 initiation into the Iota Chapter at Eureka College, to this day, TKE has played an important role in my life. The various offices I have held in TKE-Big Brother, Hegemon, and Chapter Prytanis-provided invaluable Leadership experience. But, my most cherished benefits from membership in TKE have been the many warm friendships and spirit of camaraderie which are only to be found among Fraters."
-President Ronald Reagan
That is absolutely true. I signed the oath when I was hired as a telephone operator at the Pentagon a long time ago(clue LBJ was President, I was 11 yoa LOL). The ATC's in the military had to do the job until the new ATC's were hired and trained. My friend got unbelievable overtime pay during the few years after the wholesale firing.but it was totally necessary.
Ronald Reagan was an active member of Tau Kappa Epsilon at Eureka College, Eureka, Illinois (1928-1932).
Don't see how they had the nerve either! And the media reported all week that Gerald and Betty Ford would not be there treating it like they were snubbing them. Wrong -- they were there!
I could swear Hastert said the other day he was born in Illinois. But you are right and so was CBS, I guess. Darn it. :)
Lovely! Thank you.
Our military controllers at Wright-Patt took over the control of any traffic in Southern Ohio. I signed the oath and was proud of it! I go back to Nixon! :)
Yeah they falsely report that the Fords woulnd not be there and totally blow over...IMHO...the leader of the Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys making a VERY public announcement taht he wan't going to attend and little Billy throwing a tantrum becasue he wans't on the list to speak.
It's going to be a lively Sunday Morning Talk Show thread on Sunday I imagine. The RATS have had to try and hold their tongue all week. It's gonna fly on Sunday.
Heres hoping all the TKE's vote GOP this year : ))))

TAU KAPPA EPSILON FRATERNITY CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF FRATER RONALD WILSON REAGAN
February 6, 1911 - June 5, 2004
For immediate release - June 6, 2004
INDIANAPOLIS, IN. - More than 200,000 living Tekes join a grateful nation in celebrating the life of Frater Ronald Wilson Reagan, who passed away at his California home on Saturday, June 5, 2004. Reagan was initiated into Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity's Iota Chapter, Eureka College, on February 25, 1929, as its 169th member.
In addition to the strong leadership he displayed as the 40th President of the United States (1981-89) and during his two terms as Governor of California (1967-75), Reagan was a staunch supporter of the Fraternity and active in TKE from 1929 through his passing into the Chapter Eternal. He served his undergraduate chapter as rush chairman, member educator, and president. After graduation, Reagan continued his involvement in "the Fraternity for Life" through regular support of the TKE Educational Foundation, in making several films and videos for TKE, and as Chairman of the Grand Prytanis Advisory Committee in the 1970's. During his presidency, Reagan welcomed his fellow Fraters to the White House and visited Tekes and TKE chapter houses throughout the country. ...MORE

Cool. I'll be needing a really big Yagi antenna, though. (I'm in North Carolina).
It was amazing -- I hit search and the first item that showed up -- first time this week I didn't get something anti-Reagan or Bush when I hit search!
I love the part when Pres Bush escorts Nancy to her seat!
I think she is a paleocon. She's anti-Israel, I know that.
They may not have cartridges in them, but those bayonets are real. And the capitol police outside are armed with real machine guns :-)
Truly wonderful, and delivered so well. He took his time. In terms of delivery, the best he's ever done, IMO.
Thank you SCR !And that was nice/interesting about Nancy getting her 'old' SS agent back this week.
There you go, Gracey (#3706) ....
MSNBC reported that it was exact to the 1000 the number of visitors who attended in CA 103,000.
