German expert warns of al-Qaeda threat

11 June 2004

BERLIN - Al-Qaeda terrorist cells appear to be infiltrating Eastern Europe following the European Union's eastward expansion, according to a German expert on terrorism in remarks published Friday.

Islamic radicals are believed to be setting up bases in Poland, Bulgaria and Romania, said Rolf Tophoven, director of the Institute for Terrorism Research and Security Policy in Berlin.

"The combination of Islamic terrorist cells and powerful organized crime structures in these countries could create an explosive mixture," he was quoted as saying in Der Tagesspiegel newspaper.

He based his findings on reports by British MI5 intelligence agents.

One MI5 agent quoted an Islamic militant as saying, "In Poland and Bulgaria everything is so easy because there's so much

corruption. You can buy anything with US dollars, law enforcement is lax and you can get away with almost anything."

Israeli man killed while kayaking on upstate river
6/11/2004 11:24 AM
By: Capital News 9 web staff

Divers in Port Jervis have recovered the body of a 28-year-old Israeli man who died while kayaking on an upstate New York river.

The search for Sholmi Bagadadi began Wednesday when his rented kayak was found floating on the Delaware River in Orange County.

Thursday afternoon, divers found his body in 15 feet of water in a stretch of the river just north of Port Jervis, where the state lines of New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey meet.

Bagadadi and his family were visiting friends and family in New Jersey when the group decided to escape Wednesday's heat and go kayaking.

Authorities said he tipped over while shooting the whitewater near Sparrowbush, about two miles north of Port Jervis.

The upper Delaware River is popular with boaters, canoers, kayakers and swimmers. But it can also be dangerous. Over the past quarter-century, about four dozen people have drowned in that stretch of the river.

The GPS jamming and cell phone disruptions are due to military exercises and tests that are being conducted to jam navigational satellites to enhance defense capabilities. Although it's inconvenient, I think that we will be safer as a result. Here's an article about it:

Military testing system designed to jam GPS signals off coast

Wilmington, North Carolina-AP -- Military officials have begun testing a system designed to jam signals from navigational satellites.

The experiment could disable boaters' G-P-S devices and force them to rely on dead reckoning.

The Coast Guard says G-P-S signals will be unreliable or unavailable in waters up to 60 miles off North Carolina and along the Florida coast. The testing may affect cell phones as well as navigation devices in boats, airplanes or cars.

The military began testing the new system today. Tests will run through June 20th as part of a NATO training exercise.

quite correct. Every mosque we allow to be built on Western soil is like allowing a barracks for the enemy to be built. The Moo slums believe that once a mosque has been built then that land is Muslim for eternity, forget about what came earlier.

And, allowing Muslims in the US is like the Federation allowing Borg in. The federation would allow only reformed Borg (7 of 9 hmmmmm), but not the soulless borg. Similarly, we can allow ex-Muslims into the US, let them convert to anything else.

It's better than the treatment we got many years ago when my son bit into a national brand bean and cheese burrito and spit out a piece of bone. I wrote the company and their response was that it was made by someone else and their label was used (like a subcontracted piece of food). They basically shrank from any responsibility for what was in the product with their name on it. We began making our own bean and cheese burritos at home. Where this ties into our thread is that oftentimes when we buy products at the store, we really have no clue who really makes it or what is in it.

The fellow in your Revere post was certainly planning SOMETHING with all the hardware and software -- wonder how many more are out there just like him poised to do battle with us on our own soil? On second thought, don't answer that - the answer is too scary!

From the Quran AD-DUKHAN (SMOKE) :1-60

10 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke,
11 engulfing the people; this will be a painful punishment.

Right now, watching for info on Japan.

It's more urgent for me as well - we've had three foreign exchange students from Japan and I feel a personal concern with this.

Personally, I think roses for a woman are always appropriate--unless she's allergic to them or just doesn't like roses.
