U.S. Charges Australian Linked to al-Qaida

WASHINGTON - An Australian held at the Navy's prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will face a military tribunal for allegedly training and fighting alongside members of al-Qaida in Afghanistan (news - web sites), the Pentagon (news - web sites) announced Thursday.

Usually before a major terrorist strike by Al Qaeda, they release the wills of past martyrs ... Their reasoning is anyone's guess ... however, this could be serious ... they have just re-released several of the wills of the 9-11 martyrs (murderers) along with videos of World Trade Center. What is even worse, is that the links are getting so many hits that they keep exceeding their bandwidth.

JP....it is not uncommon for the wills of martyrs to be re-released every now and then. What was disturbing about this post was that there were several posted altogether in the same post (the links to them), and also links to video of the attacks on the WTC. They had so many hits that excessive bandwidth made the links inaccessible! IMHO, it indicates that something is going to jump off very soon. The release of a prominent martyrs will, usually indicates that there is going to be some sort of major terrorist action in the very near future.

I will be on the forums for about an hour and will be updating my site before I go to sleep. Check back later or in the morn!

We have to get through today first. After that, there are at least five major targets in the next 90 days. And as I wrote in a post a day or two ago, the Iraqi transition holds much more importance to them than our election.

While they have policy preferences as far as an American election outcome, I don't think they have individual preferences. They see the difference between Bush and Kerry as we see the difference between Zawahiri and Zarqawi. To them, we are all infidels.

They care about American public opinion and policy, not the officeholders themselves or the political parties. I doubt they are pulling for Kerry to be the first "Jewish" President.

They *are* pulling for an antiwar movement to develop. If they can send home enough bodybags this summer and create some here as well, to sour us on the war, then that would motivate them.

I would not breathe easy. For them, June 30th matters more than November 2nd. This war is not about us. For them, it is about control of the Mideast. At this phase of the global jihad, we matter to them only as far as we stand as an obstacle to their conquest of the region.

Running to the right is not the same as running off a cliff. To demonize one billion Muslims is to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. Only a bare fraction of that billion subscribe to "political Islam" and support violent jihad. Make this a war of civilizations and you make al Qaeda's argument for them (that we are indeed back in the 11th century and we in the West are coming to get them and annihilate them because we have concluded there can never be a peaceful coexistence with any form of Islam).

It was not more than a century ago that *millions* of Americans were card-carrying members of the Klu Klux Klan. (Actually, a significant portion of the American population supported the organization)

Like al Qaeda, they were an organization that presented itself as a defender of religion and a vanguard of a holy war. If we truly believe that all men are created equal, then you must believe we are all created with an equal capacity for evil.

The KKK a century ago did not have airplanes or truck bombs and could not spread their message of joy and peace to the world in a horse and buggy era. But they were terrorists of the worst kind - - terrorists every bit as evil as al Qaeda - - American terrorists. We made it through our momentary lapse of sanity. They haven't.

The KKK presented itself as a defender of evangelical Christianity, but it was and is a perverse distortion of true religion.

Al Qaeda is the Islamic KKK.

If our war is with al Qaeda, we win. If our war is with Islam, then we will have a new set of crusades, and the last one took three centuries to end.

With the weapons of total annihilation available to both sides, I am not sure how many of us on this planet would survive three decades let alone three centuries of "holy war" against all Islam, a "jihad" against not just the extreme militants of al Qaeda, but the quarter of the planet that belongs to Islam.

I will not condemn my children to that dark and hopeless future. So my enemy is al Qaeda, and any Muslim who fights al Qaeda is my brother or my sister in that fight.

The Iraqis and Afghans who will die today fighting the terrorists that would otherwise be over here in our cities killing our families - - they are mostly devout Muslims.

Don't lose sight of who are the true enemies, and the true friends.
