Alot of dignataries are now showing up to pay respects. McCain, Guiliani, Gorby, Karzai, etc.
Cspan has live coverage. Bush expected at 7 but could be earlier? He is then going to visit with Mrs. Reagan.
Guard changes about every half hour at .28 and .58 of the hour. One is going on right now.
Thanks for that update. My info was from two days ago.
GW must be so tired. Dealing with so many things on so many levels. Takes a man of steel. But I believe in a man who has appearant true emotions. I am trying to gear up for tomorrow. I have my video tapes ready to record. I will be at work but have set up a tv for viewing. I can't imagine why anyone would want to do commerce tomorrow but I'm sure ther will be some who do. Thanks again.
What do you do if you have a state funeral and nobody shows up?
You can plan all you want, but you can't make people show up.
I just saw on C-SPAN, a very beautiful mother and her equally beautiful little girl there. The camera focused up tight on them. THe little girl was kneading her necklace looking at the casket and the surroundings and all, and mother was kneeling down whispering (I think as I couldn't hear) in her ear about what was happening, and why there were so many people there to honor a great man.
Can you imagine anything similar with Bill? I can't really. Unless its Monica and her little girl, and she's telling her about the time she..... well, I will not soil this thread with such images. Its not befitting of a thread about Reagan.
the left does not understand the word "respect".
They would prostitute their own mother to get kerry elected. (probably are)
By the way .. what was your breaking news you had awhile back ..??
You look so strange without your cool Japanese animation image . . . so pedestrian . . . your posts just don't have the usual aura of mystery and insight . . . but very impressive of you to humble yourself this way in honor of President Reagan . . .
No, I can't imagine anything even remotely close to this.
And I am glad I can't imagine it, also.
hmm, from the end of the state funeral ceremony until sometime tomorrow morning. Anyone have an official schedule handy?
If they still do repeats of Larry king on CNN tonight set your VCR's for the end of the show for the tribute. larry said he is good friends with Nancy, the family selected the song, and the staff edited the pictures to go with the music...I hope they put it up on the website..but their might be Copyright issues with the music.
FoxNews reported this morning that about 5,000 per hour were viewing. So, for 30 hours that would be 150,000.
I think some report said 109,000 viewed at the Reagan Library, IIRC.
Had to conve this:
Reagan son said story: Reagan saw a woman on TV who needed money so Ronald Reagan sent her a check for $2000.00. She appeared on news with check in frame and was going to keep check instead of cashing it. Ronald Reagan saw this and sent ANOTHER check with a note that said "please cash this one".
speaks volumes to respect from the peopl to the man and the man to the people.
Quite a somber and yet respectful crowd, eh. Let's bring back Wellstone.
As Rodney Dangerfield says....no respect.
I think it's 5000 per hour, not per minute.
Second overflow is full. Wait is now 8 hoyrs plus. I bet they shut the line soon. There is at least 30000 here maybe more. I am 3 hours in with 4 to go.
Light breeze. If I wasn't with my girls I might find a date.
Heading out. See you tomorrow.
I have too. And perhaps it was to remind us in this time of turmoil what it took to take out another evil that faced our nation: vision, perserverance and the willingness to, if need be, go it alone to do what has to be done.
And, I also think that the Good Lord couldn't stomach having Mr. Bill preside over such things either. Thank you God for calling home President Reagan on W's watch.
10,000 ...
I took it that the poster was making fun of CNN's projection of 10,000. Heck, that many went through during the first 2 hours last evening. CNN just doesn't like that idea that a large number showed up.
By jove, I second that! I was so enjoying these images that I never inquired. Great job, erlich, and a hearty welcome to Free Republic! And thanks arasina for the reminder. Proving once again that Free republic is the best, bar none.
Does anybody know who the guy was who was allowed within the roped-off area to pay his respects? It was just before the changing of the guard.
I tend to think the concerns about Michael and Nancy's relationship is overblown... After all, Patti is single and Ron has a wife but no children, and Doria wasn't at the library the first time, either...it seems natural that Nancy's children by birth were there to hold her hand and comfort her, and ride with her in the car...Michael had three other immediate family members to ride with, his wife and two children. I mean, when I was at family funerals last year, I sat at the service and drove in the car with my husband and children, not with my father...but that doesn't mean we don't like each other!!!
It looked to me as though Michael and Nancy were certainly cordial.
JMHO, for what it's worth.
