Should President Bush temporarily lift his ban on new lines of stemcells?
I say he should. Not because of the death of Reagan but because if we dont the rest of the world will leave us behind in this burgeoning field. Not to mention that so long as fetuses are being destroyed during abortion, we might as well not let there sacrifices go in complete vain.

No. One cannot "temporarily" lower a moral standard.
Your rationalization is precisely the argument every mother who aobrts her baby wil use.

We can get all the stem cell material we need from unbilical cord tissue from new born live babies -- available in every maternity ward in the USA. We don't need to create a baby factory and kill human embryos for these cells. This is a false argument put forth by the pro-aborts.

NO NO NO a thousand times NO.
How shameful of Bob Dole. He was on with Brokejaw....and says.....if they really want to honor Ronald Reagan they can allow stem cell research.
I would have throttled him if I could.

Good idea, we wouldn't want the rest of the world get ahead of us in murdering people for scientific purposes.
Hey maybe we can also harvest stuff from old people who aren't productive anymore.
Who cares that Adult stem-cell tests have actually been effective and are not a moral concern. Lets just start cranking out those babies and harvest them night and day.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Diversity of DNA, without the downside of creating any incentive to murder.

No.
I "waste" an unfertilized egg every month.
Think of the potential benefits if only medical science found a way to determine through DNA or other testing if some of those wasted eggs really should have been harvested and fertilized for the greater good of mankind, instead of naturally destroyed through menstruation.
I did manage to bear a healthy and normal child, after all.
Why not just harvest all the rest of my "never intended to be fertilized eggs" today and combine them with various sperm combinations?
Strictly for scientific experimentation, of course.
After all, I was just going to destroy them anyways, by flushing them down a toilet or tossing a pad in the trash.
But my daughters "eggs" are really interesting, even more than mine!
Why not just harvest her ovaries now, along with a few of her age peers, while they are good and fresh?
How much will you offer me for one of her ovaries?
Is it more than the going rate for a healthy adult kidney?
We are, afterall, slightly short on cash this month./sarcasm//

President Bush doesn't have a ban on new lines of stem cells.
Oh, you must mean embryonic stem cells.
No. We should continue research on adult stem cells but let's not get suckered into promoting human sacrifice.

<>> That is an ignorant question. We arent talking about adult life snuffed out. And I am not talking about snuffing out new life for these specific purposes. In my opinion, using everybodies logic here, than we need not use organs from the dead (especially those who were murdered) to help the living or donate blood.

There is no ban on Stem Cell research.
Privately sponsored is OK.
Just no Government funds. As heard
from Michael Medved's mouth last
night....
