Thanks for the correction.
I must have missed something.....all the news folks neglected to mention that earlier, but you are correct according to the Reagan library schedule.
Have a good evening. God bless the Gipper.
I didn't come to this thread until just awhile ago, simply because I didn't want to miss a moment of the ceremonies. I can't find any fault with any of it. The music was perfect, given who President Reagan was.
I thought that the procession today was beautiful, and I will always remember that The Battle Hymn of the Republic was played while the casket was carried up the capital steps. Different times, different memories.
Why do you think Jack Valenti has been a lobbying fixture in Hollywood for 40 years?
Tom, I always tell people that we find God in the valley, not on the mountain. May He uphold you in your time of need. If I can help, you know where I am.
hehe...be careful with the dial.
I was looking around and lo and behold...
PBS ignored the Reagan ceremonies..
Instead they have a nostalgic evening with the Weatherman/SDS/Blackpanthers. Basically these anarchist and communist were really warm and fuzzy folks who were trying to make the world a better place, but mistakes were made.
most of the dialogue is an attack on Republicans, conservatism, and in their words "Rich White American values"...
nope, no agenda, please move along...
Bad, don't worry, you paid for it
FOX news said they were form the three government branches. Did you hear differently? Just wondering.
I'm bad at estimates; 500K? But this crowd was one of the largest I've seen; larger than some of the Inaugerations I've seen. Huge crowds up and down the street and 20 deep in most parts. I walked towards the Capital along with the casket as fast as the crowd would let me, but soon lost view of it; then saw the flyover, which boomed through the little valley of buildings that line Constitution Ave. Finely getting to the Pond near the Capital, I watched as more and more folks kept getting in line for the viewing. They had to keep extending the multiple entry points for the viewing line. They really underestimated the number of folks who would want to view. Humid evening, but awefully beautiful.
Can you tell I have had it with the whining and nitpicking? :)
It gets worse when you get off to watch the ceremony on a large TV and then come back on to read some of these comments. Unbelieveable!
So true!
(or in a foxhole)
Also - I wonder if they (RATS and RAT Media) will be able to contain themselves before Friday. I'm sure one of them will blow their stack before the burial in California.
Very traditional, not sissified.
President Kenny lying in state with wreathes.
Me too, just watched the whole thing with my son. I always cry when they play "The Battle Hymn of the Republic". Very emotional afternoon.
Because it is one.
I was wrong.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch the FNC coverage since the local Fox station didn't pick up the feed.
So, I was stuck with CBS and they just called it a "short ceremony."
Brit is correct, however.
CSPAN will be replaying the procession at midnight EDT (followed by the Lying in State and the State Funeral Ceremony).
I was GLAD for the music today....we are CELEBRATING A LIFE, in my opinion....a life lived long, and VERY WELL. Obviously, the Reagan's decided to have music, since they made the plans.
LOL! A sure sign of FReeperitis!
Not you,,,,,,,the nit pickers are the ones who have it.
