Excuse me for saying something about crass grandstanding and those who are defending kerry's crass actions.

I agree with you. Imagine yourself bringing someone to shoot footage of yourself at a casket viewing. Really imagine yourself doing that. It is absolutely so disrespectfully self-serving.

Yes, indeed, he was suspending "overt campaigning" this week in deference to President Reagan's memory. BTW, pay attention to how frequently Kerry uses some form of the word "optimistic" over the upcoming days and weeks. Apparently, in meetings over the weekend they decided that one word was most often associated with President Reagan, so, they're inserting it in every sound bite moment.

What kind of person makes a funeral a moment for political opportunism?

CNN has this picture and story entitled "Kerry joins Reagan mourners" as their top online story.

Great reminder of the differences between the parties... they made Wellstone's death into a staged rally for which they back-pedalled furiously. Reagan's procession is somber and respectful and timeless. Imagine that.

Next time MSNBC shows Kerry approaching the casket, look to the rear of the shot and you'll see a guy holding up a handheld digitial recorder. Do you think this was Kerry's photographer?

I was wondering if that was a national buy or if it was just targeted at those of us in battleground states.

Gee, that's what CNN said:

SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- Thousands of mourners were joined by Sen. John Kerry Tuesday to view Ronald Reagan's casket. Kerry, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, arrived at the former president's library in Simi Valley, California, just before 2 p.m. (5 p.m. ET). Kerry, D-Massachusetts, suspended "overtly political" events this week in observance of Reagan's death.

"$10 says he uses it for a campaign ad"

I'm not giving you $10!

Recent polls (CBS for one) show Kerry is losing ground with veterans and Reagan was pro, pro, pro military. Kerry will use these pictures to go after that vote and attempt to hoodwink everyone into believing that he supported President Reagan's initiatives.

Unfortunately for Kerry: (1)alternative media is here to stay and he will not be able to get away with it (2) it will finish off his already nervous lefties who so loathe and despise the military. Either way, Kerry loses with this opportunistic stunt.

yeah, MSNBC said the same thing. Unfortunately for Kerry, he isn't very good at covert action.

What he did today was pure politics, and it's impossible not to see it.

Sheesh, they really think we are stupid...maybe we are. I do not know. If the Democrat Party can take up cheap tricks like this and garner even 1% of voters that respected Reagan and voted for him - or even wished the had voted for him - then we are doomed anyway.

I imagine that Clinton chased most of the Reagan Democrats out of the party anyway so I doubt that there are many left. Anyone who understood Reagan would not really vote for Kerry. Yet I find this all, well...disappointing, disappointing and lacking in even an awareness of the very notions of decency, honor, dignity and proper comportment. You would expect better behavior out of a crowd of stevedores.

I have never seen the Democrats fall so low as they have the last few years. As pitiful as Tip O'Neal was he would have never stooped to this. This is even beneath LBJ. Clinton really corrupted them, not that they were ever a bunch of angels but still, they at least tried to keep a facade of decency, and I do think some of the Older New Deal types were decent folks.

That being said, I do not understand why people can tolerate the Democrats, particularly in this time of peril. over and over again they show that they are not serious people. I am beginning to think that all these "polls" are outright lies. If I were Mrs Reagan I would be furious. I would call up at the highest levels and tell them to back off, back off our I will call you out publicly.

It is only Tues. and they are falling apart. Where will they be by the Weekend.
