Reagan family has arrived in Santa Monica to escort President Reagan's body to his library.
They are blocking the on-ramps in front of the motorcade.
It will be a special moment for me when I get to watch the USS Ronald Reagan pull into it's homeport of San Diego next month. I kinda have a feeling the bay will be a little crowded that day.
Had a teacher who was on an Army honor guard. They had a funeral for a federal judge and were awarded medals for it. But before anyone thinks they have it easy, one mistake during a ceremony as a bare minimum gets the soldier an article 15, or possibly a court martial. This is serious work.
Oh......my! That is wonderful.
Alisa, a lot of things went on back then that were incomprehensible now. Try to understand that we're all sorry for things we did back then.
Me too. Although I am on the 26th Floor. I got a bird's eye view.
And I got caught in this morning's motorcade as well.
They've been repeating Washington Journal! C-SPAN REALLYS PI$$ES ME OFF lately.
Ronald Reagan and his first wife, Jane Wyman, had two children, daughter Maureen and an adopted son, Michael. Patti and Ron followed with second wife Nancy Davis Reagan. Born in 1941, at the height of Reagan's popularity as an actor, Maureen was part of the picture-perfect family that, in the 1930s and '40s, Warner Brothers promoted as Hollywood's wholesome face. Michael was adopted later, in 1946. At a time when joint custody was virtually unknown, the children remained with their mother after Reagan and Wyman divorced in 1949.
I will be unable to make a personal visit to pay respects at this time however you can bet I will go to the Reagan Library and to see the USS Reagan in San Diego as soon as I possibly can.
Also my dear friend Peter died in the USS Iowa explosion in 89 and I will go visit that ship as well.
I cant believe I will actually go to California but for Reagan and Peter it will be a trip worth taking.
You sound like my kind of parent! How old are your kids?
Yes, I was so surprised. I rushed to the picture windows to get a good view.
Everybody is YAPPING, it seems like.......LOL.
Are you listening to this story by Ollie North on FNC about President Reagan ??
Oh my ... the tears are really flowing here
.....we can say the words to President Reagan that he said to the "unknown soldier".....Farewell, old friend.....
It's so sad I can't even stand it.
All the local LA stations are providing coverage.
Oh, that would be a sight to see......you have to take pictures and post them. You know how FR loves those "first person" reports!
My dear departed mother was 39 when she became pregnant with me - my oldest brother was 18, and headed off to World War II. She was definitely not pleased about the pregnancy, but I turned out to be her only daughter, and she and my Dad spoiled me and loved me till they died, so much that my brothers were envious of the attention I got.
OMG the fire trucks on the bridge with the flag
