I'm really moved that Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Schwarzenegger showed up to pay their respects. Class act.

" Some people need a gentle hint"

eyespy is right. I followed the Space Shuttle disaster almost from the outset right here on FR. I was most affected. Yet, at work the next day, one of our tenants had to remind me about the flag. I was very grateful to her and it was lowered immediately.

***Nancy is so fragile. I'm worried about her. It's going to be a very long week. ***

I wouldn't be surprised if she followed her dear husband very soon.

I'd miss half of what goes on if it wasn't for Howlin.

LOL - me too! When I get pinged by her, I know that something hot is breaking!

No, Shep was merely reporting on the times and President Reagan's critics. President Reagan left office 16 years ago, we've had 3 presidents since then. Many of Shep's viewers were very young and not yet interested in politics during the Reagan Revolution.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be lovely if they sang "God Bless America." This American would love to see it.

I want spontaneous expression. I want tribute with a flair. This is Ronald Reagan we lost, not some backbencher. This is the Gipper.

By Friday, all the flags in my immediate 20 miles area WILL have their flags at half mast, or a black ribbon on any flag that cannot be lowered.

My husband got to lower the flag with our 2 oldest sons at the Sheriff's dept here. He said he never felt so honored to do anything before. And to have our 8 and 4 yr old with him, saluting.

Thank you for this inspirational post. I haven't seen any flags not at half mast in Charlotte. Most went down immediately.

***and I flipped it on in time to hear Jennings say, "Of course, the military honors will follow, and nobody does military honors better than the military." Huh?***

Maybe he's been listening to too much you-know-who flipflopping.

If you organize it, as you are attempting, it loses its spontaneity.

Now, please confine yourself on this thread to what is happening, rather than what is not. I would hate to think that you deliberately disrupt threads.

You did good. We need to do more of this kind of thing. It drives me crazy when I see flags left over from 9/11, tattered and faded, too.

Our was starting to get slightly worn, went and bought a new one Saturday morning, before President Reagan had passed away. It wasn't a premonition, even though we knew he had taken a turn for the worse. We were not thinking his death was that imminent. I had the strangest feeling about that when we hung it at half-staff that afternoon.
