Despite the wet day, some DC Chapter and other FReepers are out there again today. As Mudbay Slim wrote on a previous thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1147442/posts?page=1), Only evil Leftists melt in the rain...come rain or shine, sleet or snow, FReepers will be there!
Partly because of the weather, the Lafayette Park gathering was not well attended this morning. Maybe 500 from the left, and a hundred of them skipped the ANSWER program to watch the FReepers instead.
BillF said Fox and local channel 7 (ABC) interviewed Kristinn, who was also preparing for a possible CNN interview. Anglewood reports AP was out taking pictures and the ANSWER staff kept trying to get their protesters to go back to the rally site and stay away from the FReepers.
Here are the morning on-scene FReepers as reported to me:
Kristinn Dr Raoul Marylander Stay True Exit148
(As always when I am doing a Live Thread, please forgive my spelling errors and typos - I am going for speed and skipping spell check.)
They are Rummy's house now. More to follow...
Thank you for posting this thread. It is always exciting to get the reports in real time.
Glad to see GottaLuvAkitas1 and Mudboy Slim were there to represent us Richmond FReepers, lurkers and patriots. Way to go, guys!
Bravo! Bump.
Shameless Bump for reasons FR is truly about!!!
Four broads showed up before the main freakshow arrived. They were dressed in red, white, and blue, they had on kinky underwear (at least their tops) and they wore missile phalluses, which they waved around with great glee.
Saw those "cheerleaders" in NYC; had to fight the urge to duck into the nearby drug store for multiple cans of FDS for them....
we asked them to "take off their tops for peace" and to "put bags on their heads for peace." We also told them they had "RPG envy" and as the rain got to the missiles, tgsltakoma made sure to point out that their missiles were getting a little limp. I refer to them as the "Molly Ivins quadruplets" since they were camping up an Ivins-like voice stating they were from Crawford, Texas.
Kristinn had CNN come up to interview the men. Before they started interviewing the Iraqis, Kristinn introduced as the "Al Jazeera of the US.... just kidding."
The CNN guy appeared to take it well ;-).
During the protest, we had a chance to chant at the other side: "You never marched against Saddam. Apologize to his victims."
I am honored to be able to stand up for such men.
BTW, there sure were a lot of angry leftists in that crowd today.
Comments?
You make us ALL VERY PROUD!

Dittoes, as always, it is very special knowing those brave men are on OUR side...MUD
Glad to see that you all made it home OK. It was great to see you again. Thanks for the HUG.
Had some chants that you could see were making people uncomfortable. They'd be long faced and not talking. A great number of pained looks.
Shame, shame, shame. You never marched against Saddam. Apologize to his victims.God bless the gentlemen from Iraq. It must have been hard tfor them to stand there with their raised arms so the "protesters" could see for themselves what real torture and real terror looks like. You could tell the marches didn't want to deal with it.Why call it ANSWER, it's Worker's World Party
(followed by) Worker's World Is For War
Worker's World IS For War, Read Your Own Website
War Freed The Slave, War Saved The Jews, (pause) War Freed Iraq, Anti-war racists go home.
Take off your top for peace.
Put a bag on your head for peace.
What do we want,...a new cheer,...when do we want it....now. (to mock the Brian Becker Rockettes)
A large number of impressionable youth would have come, marched and gone home believing ANSWER's lies had you NOT been there today. Now they know that ANSWER doesn't speak for all of America. Your chants and signs have given them something to think about. ANSWER's next rally will be even smaller. Their "march" didn't even fill a city block today.
In the past, they came marched, ranted and spewed ANSWER's hate speech without any reality check.
Thanks too for all those out there offering prayers for the effort and words of encouragement.
The one big thing that stood out today (and we've seen many times before) is the anger shown by the other side. They are REALLY angry. Some of them rant away, shouting and spitting out their venom or their sound bytes - trying to accomplish what, I don't know ---- but it is almost amusing to watch.
There was one contingent from Central NJ. (I am from Northern NJ) They were at Lafayette Park and passed by us, on their way to the rally, and shouting out their anti-Bush stuff in unison. So I shouted back that "Northern NJ LOVES President Bush." One guy stopped directly in front of me and got in my face - shouting away. I said that I couldn't hear him ---asked him to speak louder --- asked him to repeat what he said ---etc, all the while I was laughing. He just kept shouting. You can't talk with such people. So I just laugh at them, and that makes them even angrier! LOL!
At Sect. Rumsfeld's home, a group of the ANSWER people didn't bother to protest in front of the house, but chose, instead, to sass us. Some were beside themselves with anger at our signs. The line of police in front of us kept them in line, but patiently, and continually had to keep them from crossing through. They shook their arms and screeched away. They are not happy people! I did see tho, some protesters who looked at the unfortunate Iraqi amputees with sober looks. They were an effective addition to our group, and it was an honor to meet them.
All in all, we had a good time! Our signs irked the heck out of them. What more can you ask??
