FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Conservatives to protest "Stars for Kerry" concert in Los Angeles

Los Angeles - Members of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Free Republic Network (also known as the "Hollywood Resistance Force") plan to join other local supporters of President Bush on MONDAY, June 7 at 6 p.m., as they protest the appearance of Barbra Streisand, Willie Nelson, Billy Crystal and Neil Diamond at a million-dollar fundraiser for John Kerry at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Carrying large signs that say "OUR GOVERNOR can beat up YOUR CANDIDATE!" and "Only FOREIGN LEADERS (and Hollywood "Has Beens") like John Kerry," they intend to challenge the conventional wisdom that California is a "lost cause" for President Bush this fall.

"We support President Bush," says L.A. FRN Chapter Vice President Ron Smith, "and we believe that Governor Schwarzenegger's proven ability to energize Californians to recall Gray Davis last year will insure that we also 'terminate' John Kerry this year."

By harnessing the power of the Internet, the Free Republic Forum (FreeRepublic.com) gave birth to a new level of grassroots activism that demonstrates how dedicated citizens can effect change by awakening and mobilizing the vast numbers of Americans who still support the rule of law. The Free Republic Network (FreeRepublic.net) organizes, educates, and supports grassroots activists and connects national organizations with grassroots groups and activists across the country that share their common goals and beliefs.

Kerry lauds Reagan to high school students, cancels campaign events through Friday

NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

(06-06) 12:38 PDT TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) --

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry lauded Ronald Reagan's legacy of bipartisanship Sunday and canceled five days of campaign events in honor of the former president's death.

"Yesterday, we lost one of our great optimists," Kerry told graduating seniors at Bedford High School. "President Reagan's belief in America was infectious. And because of the way he led, he taught us that there was a difference between strong beliefs and bitter partisanship."

Kerry's campaign said it was canceling all public events through Friday...

...including star-studded fund-raising concerts scheduled for Monday in Los Angeles and Thursday in New York...
-- snip --

Here is another SHORT EXCEPT form that article:

Kerry canceled the week's campaign trips to Colorado, California, Arizona and New York, but will travel to Los Angeles Tuesday and Wednesday to attend daughter Alexandra's graduation from the American Film Institute and a screening of her 15-minute film, "The Last Full Measure." He plans to spend of the rest of the week in Washington, where Reagan's body was being flown on Wednesday.

Kerry and the Democratic National Committee were canceling joint fund-raising concerts that were to feature Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Bette Midler, Jon Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp and others. Tickets cost as much as $1,000. New dates will be announced when the concerts are rescheduled, Kerry's campaign said in a statement...

So, it appears that our Kerry/Streisand FReep has been postponed.
Unless anyone want to see his daughter's new graduation dress. :o)

The 2,265-seat Walt Disney Concert Hall Auditorium -- designed by Frank Gehry in collaboration with renowned acousticians Yasuhisa Toyota and Minoru Nagata of Nagata Acoustics -- will be one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world and will provide both visual and aural intimacy for an unparalleled musical experience...
So...
2,265 seats @ $2,000/each (minimum) = $4,530,000 minimum
(if they get a "full house")

And, from wdch.laphil.com/wdch/building/interior.html:
Visitor Amenities

•

An Atrium Reception Hall will feature large glass panels that open onto Grand Avenue providing an active façade and entryway to the building. At the Grand Avenue level, a series of glass walls will define a restaurant, gift shop, café, box office, and access to the parking garage below.

•

A large Pre-Concert Foyer will accommodate up to 600 people for a variety of activities including pre-concert events and intermission events, lectures, banquets, and education programs.

•

A Green Room, accessible from both backstage and patron areas, is designed to encourage interaction between audience members, guest artists, conductors, and Philharmonic musicians.

•

The Founders Room will provide special amenities for the Music Center's major donors and guests in a dynamic environment, featuring a 50-foot sculptural ceiling, skylights, large-scale windows, and a private Founders Garden.

•

A terrace bar overlooking the Atrium Reception Hall, a main bar on the third level, and stations throughout the Hall will provide patrons with multiple locations to enjoy pre-concert or intermission refreshments.

•

A 2,200-car garage on six levels will be located below the hall with access from three surrounding streets. Once parked, concertgoers will proceed to the foyer by way of an escalator cascade, providing unique opportunities for art installations.

So...
600 people/2 = 300 couples @ $10,000/each = ANOTHER $3,000,000
(plus even MORE for the "preferred seating" folks)

Here ia an OLDER story from www.cnsnews.com that I will archive here:
Democrats, Interrupted: Kerry Campaign Rocks On
By Susan Jones
CNSNews.com Morning Editor
June 10, 2004

(CNSNews.com) - The Kerry campaign and the Democratic National Committee have rescheduled two fund-raising concerts that were supposed to happen this week -- but were postponed because of President Ronald Reagan's death.

The Los Angeles concert, starring Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson and Billy Crystal, will now take place on June 24. And the roster of performers for the July 8 concert in New York will be announced next week.

"Thanks to the cooperation and can-do spirit of the artists originally scheduled to perform this week, our producers, our technicians and production staff and the teams at Walt Disney Concert Hall and Radio City Music Hall, we are delighted to be able to announce that the Kerry Victory 2004 shows will go on in Los Angeles and New York," said Mary Beth Cahill, Kerry's campaign manager.

"So many people came together to make this a success for John Kerry and the Democratic Party and that spirit of teamwork and unity has made it possible to reschedule these two events so quickly."

"Everyone across the country is so excited about John Kerry's candidacy and his positive vision for the future of our nation," said DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe. "People are coming together to help him and the Democratic Party win in November in unprecedented ways, working together for our shared goal of a stronger America.

"That is why it was so easy to make a relatively seamless transition to new dates for our Los Angeles and New York events once we made the decision to reschedule the show."

One of the producers of the Los Angeles concert is Harvey Weinstein, co-chair of Miramax. Weinstein also is helping the Kerry campaign by making sure that Michael Moore's Bush-bashing film, Farenheit 9/11, is distributed in the U.S.

Harvey and his brother Bob, the co-chairmen of Miramax, recently acquired the rights to Moore's film, reportedly paying out of their own pockets.

Moore has announced that the film will be in U.S. theaters by late June. The film portrays President Bush, his policies, and the war in Iraq in a harsh and unflattering light.

"Do you have any OTHER ideas?"

Yes. There was a Freeper protest in DC earlier this year. One of the signs said, "North Vietnam Veterans For Kerry"

I kinda liked that.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 21, 2004
Schwarzenegger Supporters to Confront John Kerry
at Streisand fundraiser (6/24)

Los Angeles -
Members of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Free Republic Network (also known as the "Hollywood Resistance Force") plan to join other local supporters of President George Bush and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on THURSDAY, June 24 at 6 p.m., as they protest Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Billy Crystal and Willie Nelson outside a "ten thousand dollar per couple" fundraiser for John Kerry at the Walt Disney Concert Hall--which was originally scheduled for the week after President Reagan died.

Carrying large signs that say "OUR GOVERNOR can beat up YOUR CANDIDATE!" and "Reagan was The GIPPER, but Kerry is The FLIPPER!" they intend to contrast Kerry's irritating tendency to "flip flop" his positions on important national issues with Schwarzenegger's "tough guy" persona crafted from his roles in action-adventure movies like the "Terminator." "We support President Bush," says L.A. FRN Chapter Vice President Ron Smith. "And, we believe that Governor Schwarzenegger shares President Reagan's gift for energizing Californians with a clear vision that will help President Bush 'terminate' Kerry's political aspirations."

"If America had listened to John Kerry," he continues, "Saddam Hussein would still be in KUWAIT right now, rather than being in CAPTIVITY. Kerry even voted against the FIRST Gulf War." Carrying a sign that says "Only 'FOREIGN' Leaders (like SADDAM) like John Kerry!" and wearing a rubber Saddam mask, Smith adds, "These 'Stars for Kerry' may have MUSICAL talent, but POLITICALLY, they are dangerously naive. Unlike Streisand, Schwarzenegger (like Reagan before him) has had the courage to subject HIS political opinions to vigorous public debate--at the ballot box, not just at the box office." In the words of nationally-syndicated talk radio host Laura Ingraham's recent book, those who support Governor Schwarzenegger and President Bush believe that these misguided "Stars for Kerry" should just "Shut Up, and SING!"
