Today President Bush met with Australian Prime Minister John Howard at the White House for a joint press conference in the Rose Garden, in which the President announced the resignation of CIA director George Tenet. As for his comments on Tenet, the President said, “I will miss him.” He and Laura later boarded Air Force 1 for a commemoration of the 40th anniversary of D Day at Normandy, France, and the G-8 Summit in Rome.

of course I could be biased as my mom and dad have a black lab and she is the sweetest dog!:O)

Barney really does look lonely walking by himself down the colonnade. I did think of saying something about Spotty that in the photo's caption, but didn't want to spoil the happy mood that series of photos evokes. (Just a few days after Spotty died, I lost my own belove 14-yr-old Wolfie. I still have his litter sister, Annabelle, and I know she misses her brother.)

Labs are terrific. I currently have a 14 1/2-year-old German Wirehared Pointer, a tiny 14-pound mixed terrier I rescued in 1998, and a shy-with-everyone-but-me Pit Bull I rescued in 2000. Plus a cat named (but of course) Kitty.

Yep, a menagerie. The cat spends most of her time high above the floor where she can pretend to swat at Susie, the Pit Bull, while never actually being in danger. Susie, on the other hand, looks at the cat and thinks, "Lunch!"

I miss my huge coon hound, Cassie, whom I had to have put to sleep in January, due to cancer.

I now have 3 cats (one mine, 2 I inherited from my daughter, whose husband is allergic).

I am missing a dog, but I think I will wait yet awhile as I am busy in the garden and don't want to start training another dog until fall.
