The man tapped to head Iraq's new interim government is vouching for the authenticity of evidence that links Saddam Hussein to the 9/11 attacks.
Though the notion that Iraq played a role in 9/11 is considered heresy in U.S. intelligence circles, newly appointed Iraq Prime Minister Ayad Allawi said Tuesday that a document purported to be from Saddam's intelligence service that places lead 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta in Baghdad two months before the attacks was indeed "genuine."
"We are uncovering evidence all the time of Saddam's involvement with al-Qaeda," Allawi told the London Telegraph. "But this is the most compelling piece of evidence that we have found so far. It shows that not only did Saddam have contacts with al-Qaeda, he had contact with those responsible for the September 11 attacks."
According to the Telegraph, Prime Minister Allawi said the document was "genuine."
As first reported by the Telegraph in Dec. 2003, the document - a handwritten memo, dated July 1, 2001 - provides a short resume of a three-day "work program" Atta had undertaken at Abu Nidal's terrorist training camp in Baghdad.
Nidal was executed by Saddam's secret police in August 2002 in what some suspect was a bid to keep him from telling what he knew about 9/11.
Yes, but where are the WMD's?
Oh..., we found those...? Well, we must have planted them...!

If you read the Newsmax story closely, You'll see that they don't source Allawi's Tuesday statement to the Telegraph.
The attributions to the Telegraph are only the quotations and references to the December 19 2003 story.
There is no source mentioned for the statement of Allawi on Tuesday- perhaps he stated it directly to a Newsmax reporter. This needs to be clarified.
I dare the mainstream media to report this. DARE THEM.
"I dare the mainstream media to report this. DARE THEM."
I think you'll need a triple dog dare to even get it on the NYTimes inside pages. That or get the editor extremely drunk and compliant.
less than two months before 9/11/01, the state-controlled Iraqi newspaper Al-Nasiriya carried a column headlined, American, an Obsession called Osama Bin Ladin. (July 21, 2001)
In the piece, Baath Party writer Naeem Abd Muhalhal predicted that bin Laden would attack the US with the seriousness of the Bedouin of the desert about the way he will try to bomb the Pentagon after he destroys the White House.
The same state-approved column also insisted that bin Laden will strike America on the arm that is already hurting, and that the US will curse the memory of Frank Sinatra every time he hears his songs an apparent reference to the Sinatra classic, New York, New York.

Your link to worldnetdaily.com malfunctioned when I tried it. Would you test it and repost if there is a correction? Thanks.
LOL.
The NYT has become nothing more than DNC stenographers - dutifully taking down every talking point.
They don't have an investigative reporter worth two cents.
Although it's pretty tough to "followup" on a story that was never printed/broadcast to begin with.
You're right, though I assure all there was no attempt to mislead. The Allawi quotes come from a Dec. 14, 2003 Telegraph report, which was emailed to me. I checked the link but not the date and assumed it was current.
The Ayad Allawi in question, however, is the same man in both cases. What's important is that we now know that the man who was chosen to lead Iraq last week believes Saddam played a key role in 9/11 (whether our leadership wants to say so or not).

Corrected NewsMax copy has been posted as follows:
New Iraq Chief: Evidence Linking Saddam to 9/11 is 'Genuine'
The man tapped to head Iraq's new interim government has vouched for the authenticity of evidence that links Saddam Hussein to the 9/11 attacks.
Though the notion that Iraq played a role in 9/11 is considered heresy in U.S. intelligence circles, newly appointed Iraq Prime Minister Ayad Allawi said in Decemeber that a document purported to be from Saddam's intelligence service that places lead 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta in Baghdad two months before the attacks was indeed "genuine."
"We are uncovering evidence all the time of Saddam's involvement with al-Qaeda," Allawi told the London Telegraph at the time. "But this is the most compelling piece of evidence that we have found so far. It shows that not only did Saddam have contacts with al-Qaeda, he had contact with those responsible for the September 11 attacks."
As reported by the Telegraph at the time, the document - a handwritten memo, dated July 1, 2001 - provides a short resume of a three-day "work program" Atta had undertaken at Abu Nidal's terrorist training camp in Baghdad.
Nidal was executed by Saddam's secret police in August 2002 in what some suspect was a bid to keep him from telling what he knew about 9/11.
There was some 'Rat apologist on H&C tonight that refered to the Sarin packed missle as basically an insignificant find...even when they are shown weapons that were/had been in "material breech" they blow it off as "nothing to see here"!!
Q: What does Ritter the liar have in common with Ritter the Burger King pervert?
A: Both cases prove Ritter knows how to handle a Whopper....
You shouldn't have a long wait. The only way they would agree that he wasn't is if he started his own militia to fight coalition troops, and even then, they would say that it was Bush's fault for letting the Iraqis choose an anti-American guy.
Remember how Rush said that the Clinton Administration seemed to live by the mission statement, "How can we fool them today?" The mainstream media is living to "How can we spin this against GWB?"
'Rat media will now counter that there is no proof of any visits unless Iraqi utility bills and voter registration cards in the hijacker's names can be produced.
If you read what you yourself posted, NewsMax DOES NOT SAY that Allawi's Tuesday staement comes from the Telegraph, and you won't find it there, either.
Note that the new NewsMax story deletes the "Tuesday" reference.
Hmm, works fine for me. Can you normally get to WND?
Can you give any updates on the second part of the memo, regarding the "Niger shipments" and the secret meeting between Syria and Iraqi heads of state?
Leftist media spin:
Documents were forged; Saddam (the secularist) had Nadil killed because he was a fundamentalist Muslim.
Some Democrats' interpretation:
Since Nadil was a Palestinian, the USA got what it deserved because for supporting Israel.
The liberals can't allow this to stand because their mantra is that nothing Bush has done since 9/11 is sensible. God forbid that we protect ourselves. They can't come out and say what they want to, that we should simply hand over our sovereignty to the UN. My liberal son is visiting from New Zealand and all I've heard is that America is the world's biggest threat to stability...oh, and the Jews and Bush are behind everything. He's giving me hives.
