Please pardon the vanity, but I've not seen this theory posited elsewhere in any searches I've performed.
First the admission from Michael Moore that he interviewed Nick Berg prior to his trip to Iraq. Why, in God's name, if Berg was just some foolhardy "mercenary" (as Moore calls Americans in Iraq in general)?
Then, with the slightest amount of further investigation, this post from Moore himself, on his own website. Note, very well, the date.
Quoting:
"I currently have two cameramen/reporters doing work for me in Iraq for my movie (unbeknownst to the Army). They are talking to soldiers and gathering the true sentiment about what is really going on."
Rather explains why Berg would have refused safe passage home from the military, doesn't it?
I therefore theorize that Michael Moore commissioned Nick Berg to act as his proxy / cameraman in Iraq with the stated goal of meeting and interviewing the "minutemen" of the "revolution," thereby directly leading Berg to his own murder, and making Moore himself more culpable than any member of the Bush administration in that murder.
If Moore has an interview with "pro-war-Bush-supporter" Berg, as is claimed, this should be very easy for him to deny.
Let him do so.
Would the "Berg offered a ride home to the states courtesy of the U.S. government" be something to mention in the timeline?
Yes, it would; I'm still working on compiling ALL that information!
So you don't think he was being offered a job as a documentary photographer by MM? Is your tinfoil coming off just when it was starting to get interesting? :o)
George $oreA$$? The same creep who paid Michael Moore to do his hit piece on GW?
Only my lying mind, I suppose, which is screaming that a pro-war / pro-Bush Nick Berg would have been as likely to have been interviewed by Michael Moore as, say, myself.
These are not difficult questions to raise. Why did Moore interview Nick Berg? When? What topics did they discuss? How did Moore come to know Nick Berg? Does Moore know Berg's father? Has he interviewed him? Did Berg state on the record that he supported the Iraq war? Is that taped? Why has Moore not come forward with this information until now? Has Moore notified the FBI that he has this interview? If not, why not?
Questions we've all been asking since last night.
No, it's not. I'm just saying that his emails seem very straight forward. Go read them yourself.
With no answers for any...yet.
So far, in the media, I've only seen notice of Moore's acknowledgement that he has this interview. There has been no question as far as why he chose Berg for an interview subject, or what contact (if any) he had with Berg following that interview.
Imagine the situation reversed, and that during Clinton's war on Serbia, it turned out Rush Limbaugh, a strident opponent of that war, had just happened to have held private meetings with an American who, shortly thereafter, somehow wound up in the hands of the Serbs, who tortured and murdered him on-camera? The media would still be eating him alive, to this day. "What was Joe Citizen doing in Serbia, Rush? Did you know he was going there? Did you SEND him there? Was he there to do your DIRTY work? Was he there to KILL BOSNIANS for you, Rush?"
PHILADELPHIA - (KRT) - The sister of Nick Berg, the contractor from the Philadelphia suburbs who was beheaded earlier this month in Iraq, says she's dumbfounded by reports that liberal icon Michael Moore had filmed an interview with her late brother for his new anti-war film.
"I'm very skeptical of this," said Sara Berg, a Virginia attorney whose brother's beheading sparked a global uproar.
But she said there was no way to confirm that Moore had sent a tape of the reported 20-minute interview to their parents' home in West Chester, as the filmmaker suggested in a statement Thursday, because the couple has been away.

BTW,
Michael Moore (news)'s controversial documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" moved a step closer to U.S. theaters on Friday as Miramax film studio founders Harvey and Bob Weinstein personally bought rights to the picture from Walt Disney Co. .
After more than three weeks of talks, the Weinsteins bought rights to the film for costs to date, estimated at about $6 million, and will arrange for theatrical and home video distribution, both sides said in a statement issued on Friday.
Exactly! The media double standard is alive, well, and thriving.
My GOD, Registered - is that an actual photograph, or a photoshop?
You're asking Registered this question? I'm sorry, but I'm still laughing.
The question is just too darn funny.
"My GOD, Michael Moore - is that an actual pizza in your hand?" ;^)
Moore has always, in his personal life and personal business dealings with employees, had contempt for the "little people" -- it's been well documented for years.
Berg was at Abu Graib Prison on a tower.....hmmmmmm PLUS Moussoui has Berg's password...hmmmmm.
We've only been told by his father that Nick was Pro-War....you really have NO idea unless you knew him.
Makes sense...the "insurgents" caught him poking around with his camera and thought no one would be that stupid so he must be a spy, so they killed him. The government should immediately get that film from the pig, Moore, and arrest him if he was engaged in subversive activity that led to the weirdo Berg's murder.
I don't believe, nor have I from the first, that Michael Berg was a pro Bush conservative. So this idea that he was working for Moore is very believable to me. Wouldn't it be great if it turns out that Moore was the one responsable for putting Berg in the position where he was caught & killed? That would shut his flaming liberal father up, maybe.
