Jill....here is some news regarding Mursi. No mention of capture, it's really puzzling. V...I think you were the one that pointed out he's not on the most wanted list anymore. Thanks FO for the article.
Here is the particular excerpt from Debka:
"DEBKAfiles counter-terror sources reveal that US counter-terrorist authorities are focusing on tracking down two key suspects: a 32-year old Pakistani woman called Aafaya Siddiqui, doctor of neurology who attended a university in the Boston area, and Adnan G. Al Shukrijmah, an al Qaeda activist known to have spent time in Florida.
Our sources add that American and foreign counter-terror and intelligence agencies are also hunting for Midaat Mursi, known as Abu Khabab, prominent member of al Qaedas operational partner, the Egyptian Jihad Islami, who is considered the organizations top expert on radiological bombs. Mursi heads a number of terrorist rings who have been instructed to infiltrate the United States through Canada for a dirty bomb attack. They may have made the crossing already.
The price on the head of Musab Zarqawi, Osama bin Ladens top operative in Iraq, may be raised from $10m to $25m after he was identified as the terrorist who beheaded Nicholas Berg. All his nets are the subject of intensive search, some composed of Saudis and Chechens trained for chemical or biological attacks and buried somewhere in Europe for some time. Efforts are also underway to locate underground terrorist cells of al Qaedas Far Eastern ally, Jemaa al Islamiyah, which are thought to be on their way to seize a merchant freighter or supertanker for use as a massive seaborne bomb vessel.
You're right, it's got me fuming too.
Thank goodness that you reported the incident!
Stay safe. :-)
I never thought about this again until reading your post.
My business phone rang twice (landline, not wireless). The caller ID displayed 999-999-9999. Heard odd noises...Don't know if this means anything or not.
Check out the link at # 4,723, in addition to an attack on the oil refineries, the article states a likely target would be disruption of the power grid.
We shall see how big a shake or set of shakes . . . I think in the next few months.
I do refuse to watch that video again. But wasn't the ring on the persons right hand in the Berg Video?
From the article:
It should never be forgotten that bin Laden has already issued a fatwa, an Islamic edict, calling for the deaths of all Americans.
As our level of anxiety rises, al Qaeda has already achieved one of its objectives.
The question, if an attack occurs, is whether Americans will deepen their resolve to destroy its enemies or seek to withdraw from the fight?
Yet there is unease as we go into these days of honoring our precious sons and daughters for their service and sacrifice. The enemy wishes to strike at us again and again, and he will be afforded many opportunities in a free and open society. Let not one threat or attack against our President or his family be successful; let not one threat or attack against any of our leaders be successful; let not one plan of attack on our country be carried out; let nothing stand of the enemy except his absolute defeat. May our vigilance join with that of our defenders, even as we go about in the honor and activity of Memorial Day events. May our national heart be laid bare with tearful gratitude as we thank these men and women and their families. May a special blessing rest upon each household that has sent forth a defender, many not to return to the warmth of their home. We bow our heads and our hearts to You, and them, in gratitude.
Walk with us through these days, Merciful Father, for surely the enemy is at hand, but greater are You than he. Strengthen us for the conflict ... grant success to the mission ... glorify Yourself among us, in the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...
"Withdraw from the fight"
I thought we answered that with Afghanistan. Do they want to stir up the hornets nest again? Yes, they are that stupid. Of course Afghanistan was easy because for the most part it was an empty wasteland easy to bomb and we had the Northern Alliance gang.
Who could we bomb in retaliation for another attack without civilian casualties? Tough question. It would depend on the intel we have as to who supplied them with their dirty bombs etc. And, I would be willing to say it would not bode well for the Muslims in this country. If something is coming in the way of an attack I say they should pack their bags now and get out because the citizens of this country will not withdraw from the fight!!!
Australia had a blackout too about that timeframe.
Given the circumstances, I'd guess a love note.
>>just curious - we know that this brigade took responsibility for the Madrid bombings but am wondering if there is independent verification that they in fact did do the bombings...then we could send that to Steve Emerson.<<
I just saw "terrorism expert"
Rick Hahn on MSNBC, and he said the same thing as Emerson-that the Al Massri (sp) Brigade has made claims for attacks that they clearly did not do. He said they really don't know much about them.
I certainly hope that they don't take out the likes of Brokaw, Rather, Couric, Kronkite, etc. The backlash from that could start a full scale war.
