I think it's still under investigation. They have offered a reward for information. This may be one of those weird cases that never gets solved. I'll do some checking and post any updates...

Beverly Hills (KFWB) 5.21.04, 2:30p -- Swat Team members are at the Beverly Center parking structure in Beverly Hills and have arrested a driver that led them on a harrowing high speed chase through Los Angeles. Shots fired have been heard and a call to paramedics was made. Paramedics rolled someone on a stretcher giving someone, possibly the suspect, medical attention. Police are looking for another suspect in the parking structure now. A third man was reportedly arrested a man in Simi Valley earlier.

La Cienega Between Beverly and Third as well as San Vicente and Third and Third around the Beverly Center are all closed while this situation is cleared.

Earlier, KFWB's Cindy Dole and Larry Carrol speak to Sgt. Joseph May from the Simi Valley Police Department:

Cindy: What can you tell us about this suspect?

Sgt. May: "You're welcome this am about 11:50 officers from our special enforcement section tried to serve a felony narcotics warrant on the suspect here in town in the east end. It resulted in a traffic stop where the suspect ramed the police car and after that he led them on a pursuit eastbound on the 118 and south on the 405 to the current location where they are.

Cindy: So that would explain for the dents and bullet holes in the windshield of this vehicle.

Sgt. May: That may, I don't have any additional information from the field yet on what has occurred.

Larry: Do you have an identity on the suspect?

Sgt. May: No, sir.

It is unknown if the suspect has a weapon.

Not "the cell is in place", but it might mean the "stuff" as in explosive is in place or delivered, "See the case is empty".

#1469 had a Sri Lanka explosive report, it seemed to me that the explosive was in black bags, packed on top of the crude Oil pipeline.

Anyone recall which towns the empty suitcases were found in?

I know they were all over the world.

How did they get the report out? Get someone to stand there and point out the abandoned suitcase, until someone said that they would call it in to the cops?

Make a phone call to the paper or Police and report it from a pay phone booth?

Once in the news, then the whole world can get the news off the Internet and the master plans go into effect.

Ted Bair on KDWN has just issued a new "Virus" warning, says it has been out for a week. "Life is Beautiful.pps", is bad and don't open.

The rest of the Kingman missing votes report, local news says that the votes were counted and loaded onto a disk.

The disk was NOT loaded into the main computer and therefore were not counted in the final total.

It was only a human error.

In reference to your preparedness post:

Things I learned from Hurricane Isabel ( or lessons for living in style in a disaster):

1) Keep a battery powered television in your house, and batteries. Radio stations have a three day attention span in an emergency, we were without power for 11 days.

2) Keep a couple of oil "hurricane lamps" around too. Candles burn down after the 5th day or so, and they dont give off enough light to really help in a long stretch. Place a mirror behind the oil lamp to relect the light around the room.

3) If someone in the family has a critical job, expect them to be gone. I was mobilized for active duty and sent halfway across the state to support Humanitarian Operations and had to leave my family home in a damaged house.

4) keep a few toys for the kids tucked away so when they get stressed out from no electricity and bad water, they can be distracted with the toys and not become angry and fight.

5) Buy a box of MRE entree's-72 packages of main course MRE meals-and keep them at home. They will feed a family of four for about a week, but it is no frills eating.

6) Buy a propane grill and about 5 bottles- keep them tucked away safe for use during an emergency. Charcoal flies off the shelf and the prices go sky high.

7) Keep a lot of canned food. It doesnt spoil as quickly and is easy to cook with limited resouorces.

During the week of 9/11, a bus came for my husband and neighbors.

They were a former Marine, EMT, Police, nurses and a doctor.

I honestly don't remember how long they were gone. That week is still a blur.

EU Supports WTO Membership for Russia

MOSCOW (AP) -- Ending months of uncertainty, Russia agreed Friday to speed up its ratification of the Kyoto Protocol on combating global warming after the European Union offered to support its longtime bid to join the World Trade Organization.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the two issues were not linked, but he added that a compromise after years of tense talks helped assuage some of Russia's economic concerns, clearing the path for faster movement on Kyoto.

"The EU has met us halfway in talks over the WTO and that cannot but affect positively our position on the Kyoto Protocol," Putin said after the one-day Russia-EU summit. "We will speed up Russia's movement toward the Kyoto Protocol's ratification."

No timetable was given.

The EU has long urged Russia to ratify the 1997 protocol aimed at reducing emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which are widely seen as a key contributor to global warming.

But Kyoto foes in Russia argue that the pact will stifle the nation's economic growth, derailing Putin's plan of doubling Russia's gross domestic product in 10 years.

In order to take effect, the Kyoto Protocol must be ratified by at least 55 countries accounting for at least 55 percent of global emissions in 1990. That minimum can only be reached with Russia's ratification because the United States and several other key countries have rejected the treaty.
