Heavy weapons cache discovered in Marseille
MARSEILLE, France, May 21 (AFP) - An Iranian national was detained Friday in the southern French port city of Marseille after police uncovered a large cache of weapons, explosives and burglary equipment in a cellar.
The 47-year-old Iranian, said to be the owner of the cellar, is already suspected of links to terrorist groups, one police source said.
However police said they had so far not determined whether the arms cache was intended for terrorist use or for criminal acts.
They were trying to establish whether the arrested man, who according to one police source was proficient in both chemistry and the use of computers, was the owner of the cache.
*****The find included seven kilograms (15 pounds) of explosives, an assault rifle, five handguns, several grenades and a stock of ammunition, police said.
Among other equipment found, described by police as "a top-flight burglary kit" were ski masks, fake identity papers - some of them in the name of the arrested man - handcuffs, rotating police lights, mobile telephones with their SIM cards, and maps of Spain.*****
Police said they were alerted late on Thursday by a resident of the building, who got a glimpse of the arsenal in the basement while visiting his own cellar.

I agree with all of you on this. Here is my comment from
another thread
The media should be reporting these events taking place
across this country. I'm sick of Abu Ghraib. It is the
media's job to keep Americans informed so if they do not
give these significant finds the same attention they grave
to prisoners wearing panties on there heads, then they
will have the blood of Americans on there hands along
with the terrorists.
IT WON'T BE BUSH'S FAULT
I was just over on janegalt.net which is a blogger from NYC and they have a picture of ground zero showing lots of police activity today.
Hard core New Yorkers seem to think today's activity is unusual.
On the actual site, the graphic is interactive. I converted it to a picture to post. I can't post the interactive graphic here to FR. I can only access it through my login information.
Thank you for the link, going to check it out. I wonder if it has anything to do with the 9-11 commission. Are they still there?
Thanks for the link to the blogger. It looks to me like a huge police presence where the picture was taken. Not being from NYC, I'll trust what the hard core are saying about this.
Certainly appears that something is definately up though.
I wonder if anyone is here right now that is familiar with NYC, is there a subway entrance near that Century 21 building?
Yes everything just about shuts down in August. Also just mentioned yesterday they should all be leaving for Memorial Day holiday shortly.
See my post at #1376 from early this morning. Penn Station was surrounded by emergency vehicles, cops and firemen today. Definitely not business as usual today.
You have Freeper Mail.........
I understand/understood that.
I just like graphics to be . . . more perfect, I suppose.
Thanks.
I'm not sure if there is a subway entrance near there or not. That's the downtown area, I'm in midtown. If security is stepped up here near Times Square, I can only imagine what it's like down near ground zero today. There was also a brazen murder here yesterday, a block from my office building.
