What happened to Berg in those 11 hours?

The video is a poor excuse for a hoax in my estimation. I've finished off plenty of game in my day and there was a noticable lack of blood spurting in this show.
I'd check fingerprints and DNA on that corpse if I were the family - too many discrepancies in that video

This is NOT a lawsuit for money. This is a copy of what I asked to see on another thread --- the petition for writ of habeas corpus filed on April 5 to get Nick out of wherever he was. Thanks (I never thought I'd say this) to NPR, it is now on the Internet.

What it shows is that the BERGS thought he was originally detained by Iraqi officials, and the FBI visited the BERGS to try to confirm Nick Berg's identity --- they thought he was a victim of identity theft. Also, the State Department, FBI and Department of Homeland Security allegedly advised the Bergs that he was in military custody . On April 5, when the lawsuit was filed, the FBI recommended to the military that Berg be released.

He was ultimately released on April 6, the day after the petition was filed.

Well ,I guess grieving time is over

It sure didn't last too long, did it? I guess it was one of those cases of "Moscow does not believe in tears" thing.

The Secretary of Defense is to blame for his son's decision not to accept a secure plane ride home? Nonsense.

Besides, I'm still waiting to hear how Berg was kidnapped.

Did it ever occur to you that nick may have already been dead when they beheaded him. After 11 hours of torture and possible bleeding to death from castration it was then decided to decapitate him for political reasons.Castration is a favorite tool of AQ, we saw and heard alot of it in Afghanistan.

It is sad that they lost their son but at the same time, it is those troops out there fighting who gave the Berg family the right to voice their opinion. The Berg family needs to remember that.

In the case of Berg senior, I believe we are seeing a demonstration of the principle that the best defense is a good offense.

The Bergs are a pitiful excuse for Americans. It is too bad that the son had to die, because he would not listen.

"This is so wrong ,it is ashame. His son just got laid to rest and he's already filing a lawsuit.Well ,I guess grieving time is over.I hope after this suit is thrown out Rumsfeld sues him !"

- Disregard the old man. Even if he wasn't a communist sympathizer (which he is) his remarks are designed to keep his lawsuit against the U.S. for his sons "negligent death" alive.
If he ever admitted that his son's decision to go to Iraq was unwise; he's lost the lawsuit.

I mean Hey, they did offer him a ticket to get out of the country, I'd say that he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

People handle grief differently. So, some of Daddy Bergs actions and statements can be excused as coming out of his feelings of grief.

But only up to a point.

Daddy Berg seems real familiar with the courts. He files a lawsuit when the Iraqi police are holding his son. Now he files a legal complaint against the Defense Dept and Rumsfeld.

Daddy Berg apparently forgets that his son was in Iraq by his son's choice. Sorry, Daddy Berg, but that hardly is Rumsfeld's problem. [Heck, I had a hang-nail last week. Maybe I could file a suit against Rummy.]

Daddy Berg had made himself a public figure now. By politicizing his son's death, he had opened himself up to public scrutiny. Daddy Berg, like John Kerry, will soon be crying that 'some are questioning his patriotism'. Daddy Berg seems so wanting to play the victim and blame the government for all his woes.

My point is as follows: It is very easy for Mr. Berg to complain about the USA and do nothing to correct it. We can all be armchair quarterbacks. Sticking a sign in his yard is not fixing what he feels is broke about our American system. There is a lot more to this dude's story than what we are getting. And THANKS TO THE MEN IN MY FAMILY, I too have the right to my opinion, and I feel this country is too good for the likes of Berg.

I think the video leaves more questions than it answers. I hadn't heard the details of other torture. If I were the Bergs, I'd have fingerprint / DNA verification done of the headless corpse.

Perhaps I should have said that the media cover story makes Nick Berg look like a candidate for a Darwin award. I'm sure he was there on "business" for a government, operating "by way of deception".
