Please boycott the movie "Troy: that releases today. Brad Pitt, a rabid Bush hater and support of "Traitor" Democrat John Kerry needs to take a beating in this movie. If the movie does not do well at the box office Pitt is toast as an actor!
I saw it last night and liked it very much. It was pretty much dead on Iliad until the last. I didn't go watch it because of their politics, most of hollywood are idiots and most of the world knows that.
He did, he played Hector and he was great in the show. It was much better than Brad Pitt.
:P It's bad casting anyway. WHY Pitt? :P He's so terribly girly.
*laugh* Your tagline made me laugh so hard I cried :P
I'll wait till it hits the dollar cinemas and then go only because of Sean Bean (Sharpe from the British TV series and Boromir in the first Rings movie. I've followed his career for a number of years.)
Reviews on the entertainment lists state that Pitt sleepwalks thru the film with a vacant stare.
The movie that missed a thousand boats.
That is criminal...both "designer" of and wearer of that thing, should be thrown into jail for indecency and bad taste.
Sure it's obvious, to all except each successive generation of himbos & bimbos produced since say 1993-5?
"They have become political avatars that keep coming up in images and celluloid."
Yup, they sure are & have.
And aimed right for the brainstem behind the beady eyes of what *they're* calling the "Pop" culture. [read: the overwhelming majority]
On a related note?
I clearly recall reading (in The American Spectator) a facinating article which was written at least 5 to 8 years ago (already).
The short of the piece was that the traditional country music "stars" were finding it impossible to get record contracts and/or studio time in Nashville ever since a particular ilk of "producer" had taken over the large record labels. (by ilk, use your imagination)
One listen to what's being palmed-off as "country" today & I believe the point's proven quite nicely, don't you?
Now if one can accept that fact, then the *next* question has to be, what were "they" so afraid of from the older, more traditional performers? (~a casual comparison of old v.s. new song content surely answers that question, real fast...)
And as long as we're asking questions I guess one has to also ask, what the hell ever became of "rock" [hard or otherwise] and/or AM-type "bubble gum" music?
Geeee whiz, seems all my radio gets these days is "talk" on AM or "Rap" on FM.
...think there might just be a *connection*? :o)
And just what will the Democratic brethern do about it-nothing.
Entertainment Barons are making fortunes tearing down by dissolution value systems that have withstood thousands of years.
It is also shitting on your doorstep and not giving credit to many great thinkers, scientists and philosophers who thought very deeply.
The spectators of pop culture also seem to get a perverse pleasure out of seeing cultural restraints demolished. I am officially disappointed in our cultural pollution and lack of National Pride and Direction.
Our Postmodern Liberals unrestrained would demolish the Country we have known.
There are times I honestly despair at the mess that is amoral capitalism mixed with lazy agnosticism and hyper-materialistic greed.
Interesting take, Helms.
I've always thought of those "art forms" as a curious cross between constipation & diarrhea, myself.
Just goes to show how two people can view the same thing quite differently, eh?
"It keeps the out of wedlock birth rate hovering around 70 per cent and crack cocaine abuse high."
Amoung other things, it keeps all the children firmly planted on the plantation, unbeknownst to them, of course.
"Sad thing though is guns are now being sported."
If I'm reading that statement correctly, surely you realize most -- if not all -- the attacks on the 2nd amendment actually began -- in earnest -- as a reaction to the carnage the inner city gangbangers of America were inflicting on one another.
Something I never had a problem with, truth be known.
I mean if one "lives & lets live" than it only seems right they permit others to "die & let die," right?
Wasn't until much later I learned my attitude was yet another facet of [my] in-built "racism".
Sheshhh, can't seem to win for lose. :o)
"And just what will the Democratic brethern do about it-nothing."
Well neither will (most of) the pubbies, my friend.
Thank God, too.
It's no secret the morons we're electing these days -- from either side -- screw up every damned thing they touch.
"Entertainment Barons are making fortunes tearing down by dissolution value systems that have withstood thousands of years."
Well hell's bells Helms, sure is easier than building, right?
I get a huge kick outa hearing people singing the praise of Fox News Channel while neglecting to recognize the sheer cultural destruction ol' Rupert Murdoch's been up to at his other Fox TV channel(s) whatwith their so-called "entertainment" programming?
Yea-yea.
Rupert must be thinking if he throws the right a bone, he'll be free [read: *protected*] to trash & pollute everything else in America, eh?
(~the stupid SOB must not have heard of RJ Reynolds, huh? :o) )
"It is also shitting on your doorstep and not giving credit to many great thinkers, scientists and philosophers who thought very deeply."
Yes it is, but again shitting's easy!
C'mon, what's more natural than dumping on *something* someone else worked for?
Educators just gotta love seeing that particular type of cultural vandalism since it validates their teaching effectiveness.
Not an easy thing to measure, y'know.
"The spectators of pop culture also seem to get a perverse pleasure out of seeing cultural restraints demolished. I am officially disappointed in our cultural pollution and lack of National Pride and Direction."
HA!!
Yea well, "you'd better hang on, because it's going to be a bumpy ride," as it were.
"Our Postmodern Liberals unrestrained would demolish the Country we have known."
Demolishing themselves in the process, unbeknownst to the ingrates.
"There are times I honestly despair at the mess that is amoral capitalism mixed with lazy agnosticism and hyper-materialistic greed."
Despair?
Why?
Everything seeks a perfect balance, eventually.
Of that I have complete and utter faith (& you should, too).
BTW off topic here, but I enjoyed the hell outa seeing the jpeg you lifted of R.Waters' masterpiece on your bio.
Of course that kind of venue won't play 'round here, but be that as it may.
Now Roger?
...there's a man in real despair. {g}
Oh I saw it but only because something else was sold out. I thought he was the worst one in the film
Yes I saw it and that pouty expression was terrible. But I doubt that this will end Pitt's career
You hit the nail on the head
I was under the impression that yours was the land of the free; free thought, free voice, free opinions. Are you forgetting that movies are just entertainment, small snipits of time to forget more stressful realities. If you want meaningful dialogue and realism try Pinter, Miller, Chekov, if you want fine performances watch any British actor you'll always get your moneys worth. Brad Pitt is on screen what he should be a character an image, i don't know him off screen so i can not make an opinion. There are many other people of importance to worry about and make comment, save your disdain for them.
You are absolutely correct! This, my dear, is the land of the free! And, Mr Pitt and his wife are totally free to voice and spread their opinions. one way or the other. And....I am also free to express my opinion, one way or the other. I really do not care about Mr. Pitt's acting roles or his ability! Problem with your conclusion is that it smacks of saying, Mr. Pitt can say what he will, but don't you dare confront him. Hogwash! I'm from NYC, and if you poke me in the chest, you are going to get poked right back! I do agree with you wholeheartly on your point referring to British actors. I have spent much time in the UK and have savored the skills presented on the British stage, which I consider superior to NYCs "Broadway". Mr. Pitt, I objectively fear, would not fare well in the atmosphere of the white lights, having to perform twice a day, for extended periods. Again, this is just one man's opinion!
Thanks for the pic of Vin Diesel. I'm glad to see manly muscles making a return to films. Vin, Thomas Jane in the Punisher, the men in Troy. Maybe the metrosexual phase is passing. I hope so.
