Kristinn just called me and asked me to post this thread.
He just called CBS Evening News and asked them if they were going to show the militant Islamists' video of the beheading of American Nick Berg.
The woman who answered the phone said that they were going to do a story on it, but they were NOT going to show the full video.
He asked them, "Why not, since you had no problem showing the pictures of the Iraqis being abused by our guys in the prison. Don't you think turnabout is fair play?"
The woman got mad and said, "Thank you for your comment." and then hung up the phone.
Call CBS Evening News and let your voice be heard!

Sorry, no can do. I'm not going to contact CBS and go against the wishes of the victim's family, who didn't want the world to see it in the first place....
Frankly, I saw the video online...
I can understand your wanting to honor the family's wishes of not playing the video, but you watched the video online. I could understand your position better if you had not watched it at all; but having done so yourself, that argument doesn't compute.
And many thousands (millions?) have also watched it online as well. So the family's wishes have already been disregarded, haven't they?
That said, I watched it; it is gruesome and violent and shows the savagery and pure evil of Mr. Berg's captors - and what evil we are faced with in our war with terrorists. Finally, our military and our leaders all need our prayers, as does the family of Mr. Berg, regardless of his parents' political views.

I SO wish I had heard Chris Core tonight, to hear what you report he said. Most nights, after listening to the end of Hannity's show, when Core comes on, I start yelling at the radio, and usually wind up slamming in a music cassette in order to preserve my sanity. I will, however, even at this late date, email CBS news, and will call the station tomorrow. I never, ever watch Rather - I don't want to have to take blood pressure medicine, just to survive watching his show but I will call/write and say that it's only right, after showing the supposed "atrocities" (can you say 'frat pranks'?) by our soldiers in Abu Ghraib prison, cell blocks 1 & 2, it is CBS's obligation and duty to show the beheading video of Nick Berg - to inflame Americans, the same way they have inflamed Iraqi's and Islamofascists. I received an email today with the video of the "Have you forgotten" scenes in it - and NO, I have not forgotten. I lost 22 friends from my home town in NY in the WTC, and 9 from the IP in the Pentagon, including Angie Houtz who I also knew from Church. As I was putting a new flag on my van over the weekend, I was thinking about how few flags I see on vehicles any more, and how few flags I see in front of houses. Then as I drove out of my driveway, my next door neighbors had put out a brand new flagpole and flag. I'm happy to report that in this part of Fairfax, VA, we have NOT forgotten. NEVER FORGET Bump for truth
I wish all American traitors would move to Canada (again). We need to be relentless and stop at nothing short of total victory in this war. I too remember September 11th and know that much worse is coming if we don't fight and win.

Thanks for the list.
I am switching over to their lame morning show for the commercials only, just to take down more sponsers, especially locals. Their show this morning is still all about how terrible US soldiers are and replaying abuse pictures.
I called my local Atlanta affiliate and got through to them via their "breaking news" line. I broke the news to them that they are killing Americans with their airing that crap.
I was hung up on.

I saw the video with my sound turned off on purpose. I also watched it minimized and with my hands practically covering my eyes. It was extremely horrible and just unbelievable. There is no doubt in my mind that I was watching pure evil at work. How could any human do that to another living being?????!!!! They (the murdering monsters) simply AREN'T HUMAN!!!!! I am just flabbergasted ANYONE could do that to some innocent young man!

It seems all of America is...
I just called the CBS evening news and in a very demanding voice, asked if they were going to show pictures of Mr. Berg's head being depacitated with the same ferocity they showed the pictures of American soldiers "torturing" Iraqi's.
I was told pictures are on their web-site.
Again, I pressed and asked when the pictures will be on the Evening NEWS!!
I was told some were shown last night.
Again, I pressed and said they showed a portion of the video with Mr. Berg sitting in a chair making a statement but no pictures were shown of the Islamic terrorists prancing around with his head, unlike they tons of pictures they've been showing for a week of American soldiers "torturing" Iraqi's in the prison.
I was told it is a developing story and they will keep following and will be showing more pictures...I should keep watching and following what they do.
I assured the man on the other line that "we will most certainly be doing that" and we hung up.
I am now going to call 60-Minutes II

I'll bump the thread for you and for myself. The media frenzy over the prison "abuse" photos has been outrageous and encourages the terrorists to commit even more heinous atrocities like the beheading of Nick Berg. They aid and abet the enemy daily with no repercussions.

Can we start a new thread or edit this one to include some other media outlets?
MSNBC had a reporter on this morning that said Nick Berg paid with his life for prisoner abuse. When I heard that I called MSNBC and found a Jeremy Gaines, VP of Media Relations and spokeman for MSNBC

I am not sure on this one.
It will be pretty easy for the Dem's to say - look at those blood thirsty conservatives, how typical.
I watched it and instantly regretted my decision. IMHO this should not be aired.

When I called this number it was a viewer hoyline rather than 60 minutes.
Does anyone have a phone number for the executive producer of 60 Minutes?

The CNN number is bogus...it only allows for an automated system.
It basically tells you if you want to speak to a person "agent" it will take a looonng time. They also preface it by saying the person you will be speaking with is basically a high school intern.

I've talked to a person many times. Granted, the guy answering is just a message taker but so are the ladies answering the phones at CBS and NBC.
The fact that they are logging all cals is good enough for me.

Here's a real quote from Dan Rather about showing the videotape of the American's beheading....
It was only after great deliberation that CBS News chose to broadcast portions of this video. We believe it is important for Americans to see it and understand the full impact and danger of the propaganda war being waged against the United States and its allies, and also its effect on the young people of the Arab world. We did not show the graphic scenes contained on the videotape, both for reasons of taste and out of respect for [his] family. CBS News brought you this report because, even in highly edited form, the video illustrates how far an enemy will go to spread its message of hate for the United States.
