Kristinn just called me and asked me to post this thread.
He just called CBS Evening News and asked them if they were going to show the militant Islamists' video of the beheading of American Nick Berg.
The woman who answered the phone said that they were going to do a story on it, but they were NOT going to show the full video.
He asked them, "Why not, since you had no problem showing the pictures of the Iraqis being abused by our guys in the prison. Don't you think turnabout is fair play?"
The woman got mad and said, "Thank you for your comment." and then hung up the phone.
Call CBS Evening News and let your voice be heard!

Oh, my.. yet another "let's fawn all over Kristinn" thread. I've seen Kristinn on the front lines myself a couple of times, and I'm not there that often. But I'm not sure I've ever seen you Mr. Humble.
I've been reading this thread for a half hour or more, and I'd forgotten that Kristinn had anything to do with it until I saw your snide post just now.

And don't you just know that if it was a video of 5 American soldiers beheading a terrorist, they'd show it, and the FCC be damned!
I've never been so mad and so depressed at the same time.

Well, I just saw the CNN report that promised to show the family saying that Nick Berg's death was the US military's fault. Turns out that it wasn't true. The family has made no public statement since Sunday [before he was killed or before his death was known].
The father said on Sunday that Nick wanted to go to Iraq to make a positive contribution in building something for the people there.
CNN then went on to say that the Iraqi police had detained Nick and that the family then sued the DOD in order to secure his release, which promptly happened. Five days later, he disappeared.

ENOUGH of the this so-called American right of personal partisan politics disguised as the right of free-press - let CBS bear the guilt and ratings punishment as a conseqence of the beheading - THEY are the ones who INCITED the act! We have laws against those who incite riots - also surely...beheadings?!

Is CBS going to air every inflammatory comment they can get a 20 year old grunt to say in front of a camera as "Breaking News" on 60 Minutes? It would appear so.
I guess CBS is not satisfied with only one American death. They are trying for more.
Treasonous acts, imo.

CBS = Al Jezeera, i.e., selectively show things biased against the USA.

I am as angry as I have ever been. You folks can twist the major news so that we as Americans are guilty of some unknown sin because we have treated a few terrorists badly. You can blame our President for it with a flip of your smiling faces but if we are a bunch of whimps dealing with these satan followers it will not be long until heads will roll here as well. Yes, I just saw the young man beheaded and I will never be the same. And all that you do is quote the father blaming the USA. What a sad day this is! MY EMAIL TO WCCO

I think the killing in the name of Allah is exactly the audio tht does need to be heard.
Awaiting the condemnation of this action from the clerics - that will never happen.

SADDAM'S MISSING WEAPONS IN TERRORISTS' HANDS: MARTIN
By STEPHANIE RUBEC, OTTAWA BUREAU, SUN MEDIA
Prime Minister Paul Martin addresses a luncheon in Montreal. (CP PHOTO/Andre Pichette)
Prime Minister Paul Martin says he believes Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and they've fallen into terrorists' hands. Martin said the threat of terrorism is even greater now than it was following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, because terrorists have acquired nuclear, chemical and biological weapons from the toppled Iraqi leader.
"The fact is that there is now, we know well, a proliferation of nuclear weapons, and that many weapons that Saddam Hussein had, we don't know where they are," Martin told a crowd of about 700 university researchers and business leaders in Montreal. "That means terrorists have access to all of that."

I called today and was surprised when the phone was picked up after the first ring. I got nervous very quick, but asked if they would be showing the video. The guy on the other end of the line acted like that was the dumbest thing he heard. Do you really think the American public needs to see that, he replied? I said that they had been constantly showing the prison abuse scandal. He told me that the two were like comparing apples to oranges. Funny I remember James Kalstrom saying the same thing during the 800 mess. Anyway, I was told to watch the news tonight. Unfortunately I missed it. Did anything good happen?

I also just watched the video, and was equally sickened by it. Theoretically, I agree that CBS has the responsibility to show it, based on the fact that they are the prime instigators of this current uproar regarding the "atrocities" (and I use that word VERY loosely) committed in the prison. In practice, however, I sure hope they don't show it, because it was very disturbing; I almost vomited (and I usually can handle these things fairly well).

No it should be shown. Not like on the Super Bowl where they flash it around the room with Grand Ma and kids there and all. Give a warning before 60 Mins2, but show it out of respect to the American soldiers fighting the enemy who wants to kill and destroy the entire US population.
