Kristinn just called me and asked me to post this thread.
He just called CBS Evening News and asked them if they were going to show the militant Islamists' video of the beheading of American Nick Berg.
The woman who answered the phone said that they were going to do a story on it, but they were NOT going to show the full video.
He asked them, "Why not, since you had no problem showing the pictures of the Iraqis being abused by our guys in the prison. Don't you think turnabout is fair play?"
The woman got mad and said, "Thank you for your comment." and then hung up the phone.
Call CBS Evening News and let your voice be heard!

Think about what it would be like for your father's beheading to be on the evening news. I admit to very mixed feelings about this. But if it led to the death of hundreds of thousands of Islamic Swine, it might be worth it,

I think there's a video of that. In fact, I'm thinking that this might be taken from the video (not withstanding the attribution on the pic). Might even be both out there. The media run in packs, and probably several took this pic.

As I explained in my reply #100, I don't think the deplorable acts captured on the prison videos rise to the same horrific level as the decapitation. Furthermore, I think your tendency to equate the two is misguided and plays into the hand of the anti-war Islamo-sympathizers. Did you read anything of my last post besides the first line you quoted?
How did I, "equate the two" other than to point out that the Iraqi videos were also "over the top"?
Your retort is analogous to saying that, just because a tape of Nicole Simpson getting her throat slashed would be worse, it is pefectly O.K. for CBS to broadcast photos of the Kobe Bryant rape in progress.
As I posted before:
The U.S. Army announced last January that there had been "cruelty and sexual abuse of detainees". The U.S. Army conducted a very thorough investigation and prosecutions were being prepared. The entire world did not need to see the inflammatory photos. That added absolutely nothing to the story.
The inflammatory nature of those photos created the media circus that the Islamists claimed was their justification for beheading Nick Berg.
I don't want CBS to actually air that video.
I do want CBS to be hoisted on it's own petard.

Just in case it hasn't been posted over here yet:
On another thread we've been calling CBS at
212-975-4114
A real person answers "CBS National Desk". He then proceeds to systematically hang up on everyone who asks if CBS will show the viseo tonight.
Give the guy a call

Great first post!
Capture a still of the video before Mr Berg's death,
and you have a perfect analogy with that prized
picture that was used so often. Not to mention
the naked girl running in fright from a burning Vietnamese village.
Let's not let this man die in vain.
Let's not let the 9/11 victims die in vain.
This is a message. To us. Telling us to stand up
and face and fight evil with courage.

I don't think it is wrong to show it, just like I don't think it is wrong to show what an aborted fetus looks like. I don't think it is wrong to show Jews in the concentration camps - these things MUST be exposed.
This video defines who the enemy is and what they are capable of. People are quick to distance themselves from unpleasant realities. We are in a war and these people mean to kill us. While you'd think that would be obvious by now, it isn't to a lot of people.
I think it should run after a disclaimer so that parents can shield their children. But it should air.

To: Corbonlvr
They should do what most networks do in these cases....warn viewers that something graphic is doing to come...and then show it.
IT IS NEWS.
How can any journalist have the gall to not support airing this video because it is "too graphic?"
