A furious President Bush has demanded to see all photos and videos showing abuse of Iraq detainees, a senior White House source said late Sunday.
"The president was blindsided by the first TV images, he will not be blindsided again," the source, who demanded anonymity, explained to the DRUDGE REPORT.
The president has instructed Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to present him with him all known images that could further deepen the crises.
Monday editions of the NEW YORKER feature photos of a dog attacking a naked Iraqi detainee at Abu Ghraib prison.
President Bush was aware of the photo, the top source claims.
The White House is preparing for more fallout, and leaks from lawmakers.
The Pentagon is considering the possibility of showing the unseen material to members of Congress.
"It's clear the moment the evidence is sent to the Congress, we will see a new feeding frenzy in the media."
That's why it is a gay porn ring in our "don't ask, don't tell" prison police...because "souvenier" picture takers wouldn't be taking thousands of snapshots of felonies and nude war crimes...but lustful gay porn rings certainly would be.
I have not seen any mention of drug use or suspected drug use in this mess, have you?
It will be more than a major political disaster. It will cripple our military at a point in history when we need them more than ever.
What sickens me is the thought of OBL and his gang of thugs laughing their a$$es off at the possibility of Rumsfeld being forced out --- while they live to kill again.
Well, likely because there aren't any, besides wishful thinking of fairly naive people on FR.
I'd bet money not one of the male soldiers involved in this turns out to be gay or ever had any homosexual activity in his life. Already one is being prosecuted for taking pics of female soldiers at the prison, doesn't sound very gay to me.
Especially given the desire just to write the whole thing off to "gays in the military," it's certainly understandable to simply say the pics of the Iraqis forced into contact with each other nude was a homosexual gratifying a fetish, if you don't think very hard.
But given similar scandals in the US (such as at the sports camp where there were similar hazing type things), in my opinion this isn't gay fantasies taken to the nth degree, it's dominant jock types throwing the nerdy boy's backpack in the girls locker room, or pantsing the new kid and giving him a wedgie, to the nth degree (not saying what happened in Iraq was of a similar level as giving a wedgie, I'm just saying it's the horrible extension of the same desire to humiliate, express dominance, and laugh at a victim, particularly by high school/jock bully types.)
Quoting from the Army report:
They (detainees) were all naked, a bunch of people from MI, the MP were there that night and the inmates were ordered by SGT Granier and SGT Frederick ordered the guys while questioning them to admit what they did. They made them do strange exercises by sliding on their stomach, jump up and down, throw water on them and made them some wet, called them all kinds of names such as gays do they like to make love to guys, then they handcuffed their hands together and their legs with shackles and started to stack them on top of each other by insuring that the bottom guys penis will touch the guy on tops butt.
That doesn't sound like a couple of gay guys making prisoners do that for sexual gratification, it sounds like a couple of homophobe jock bullies doing it to the prisoners because it was the most humiliating thing they could think of.
I also don't think the presence of women really made much of a difference. I suspect it would have happened without them, only difference is that women wouldn't have appeared in the pics and annoyed the Arabs quite as much as it has.
Donning flame-resistant suit as an awful lot of people find it really convenient to blame it either on women or gays in the military. I really don't think it had anything to do with either. It was just a poor command structure, poor commanders, and enough lowlifes (but fairly run-of-the-mill lowlifes, not anomalous or out of the ordinary) in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Digital cameras are trivially cheap these days and CD burners, are, for all intents and purposes, so cheap they're free now.
It's not like it's thousands of dollars. More like $150. Under age 30 its stuff virtually everyone has.
I'm not sure I see what difference this makes.
In fact, I find a bit preposterous that reservists (two of whom are engaged and conceived a child) are part of a "gay ring."
I heard Medved posit this on Thursday.
It could also be that, like tornado-chasers, there are some people who just get off on sado-masichism, regardless of their sexual orientation.
We just can't have this stuff. I saw my Catholic Church raked over the coals for covering up sexual abuse, and deservedly so.
It's painful to think that a few in our military think it's just dandy to strip down human beings and beat them, or rape them, or sic dogs on them, or use them for photographic props.
These are deranged SOBs, IMO.
When a prisoner fails to do what he is told in an American prison, a five man team dressed in riot gear opens his cell door and thumps his ass but good, it's not considered punishment, it's considered maintaining order.
We do not know the rap sheet on the Iraqi prisoners, but one thing is for sure, they are not in the prison for writing a bad check, they're trained killers captured on the battle field while trying to kill our Soldiers or planning terrorist attacks on our troops.
Nothing I have seen so far can be labeled torture, just humiliation. The Geneva Conventions were violated when 60 Minutes II broadcasted the photo's, until then, there was no humiliation shown to the public or the world
No, that is precisely the type of person one would expect to be taking nude pictures to sell to every porn site available.
There are way too many nude pictures, videos, rapes, and naked human pyramids to explain away.
Of course he has. But anybody that blames this on the Admin is looking in the wrong direction. This goes to the root of our culture. America has no moral authority. It's gone. Serve us right if Dubya did not want to run the Admin the next four years and refused to run for re-election.
