Listening to it on KABC, they just cut to Al Rantel who is commenting on it, and he apparently agrees that Rumsfeld should step down! I have never disagreed with Al before! He is not sure he should step down but he has not made his mind up -- very very disappointed in Rumsfeld. He is a staunch conservative. Says there are new videos surfacing that make the chargesd even worse...

Myers on. Our commanders did exactly the right thing in a timely manner. I have confidence in them and in the citizens of Iraq. Has been in constant contact since January. Military justice system works very well. His oath must also ensure that accused receive fair treatment. Now in middle of judicial process; he mustn't say anything that could affect outcome. Must understand that a fair judicial system takes time to work.

Accused will receive due process; guilty will receive punishment based on offenses.

When he spoke with Dan Rather, it was after he spoke with Abisaid. Were afraid publishing pictures would further inflame (midst of heavy fighting -- 90 hostages) and endanger coalition troops. Asked him to hold off on photos. Has seen more than he wished to; impact on him. regrets they showed violation of principles. Regrets that reputations of innocent service people tarnished. It will be restored.

Rummy is no dummy. He WANTS to look a little shaken up so that the world sees that he is upset about this. Just heard the opening statement on Rush. Rummy is a statesman in the bestsense of the word. That includes appropriate body language.
