The rats know that there were certain problems at the level, and that the people in question are under investigation, and policy/procedure has changed for the better. All this information has taken a bunch of the hot air out of their trial balloon.

Particularly when you consider that 5 hot minutes after any information was given to Congress, it would have been promptly leaked!!

In other words, very small group of sick rogue soldiers that did these things---evidently a LOT of things, but just them? Not 100% sure .. but I got that impression
I also got the impression there was some kind of cover up at the prison .. because he kept saying lack of leadership
What's the Brig Generals name?

Hi! How nice to get a much needed chuckle when I refreshed "My Comments" page.

Yes! you have it right. There are 6! Three have been referred to courts martial. Others still awaiting recommendation.
That means the two in the pics and the photographer. the rest knew and saw but did not participate to that degree.

In so much as I believe the Prison Commander should be fired and punished for what was done in her command. I do NOT believe this should go any further up the chain.
Anyone who thinks this is a TRAINING problem is not thinking correctly. Everyone of these MP's KNEW what they were doing was WRONG. The very fact that someone would have to TELL THEM not to make prisoners whack off or make them parade around naked etc is beyond ridiculous. They knew as any rational person would. Trying to put this on the SecDef or the Chairan is idiotic.

But Lord, it sounds like they did a lot of bad things and documented it.
Geeze.
Thanks for confirming what I heard.
To: cyncooper
I wonder how involved Karpinski was with these soldiers in question? (I've heard some pretty negative things about pvt. England and her supposed "orientation")
Prediction: Karpinski is canned, and the 6 involved stripped of rank, convicted, and go to Leavenworth for some time.

Wouldn't it beat all if the men involved
are homosexuals and the women lesbians?
Don't ask, don't tell.

IF the pentegon tried to cover up the INVESTIGATION and did nothing to the 6/7 soldier and let the abuse continue ... Then I can understand it But they didn't cover up ANYTHING
Exactly. The dems and media played this as being ignored and even sanctioned, when it was not.
They are the ones doing harm by trying to make it reflect poorly on our military and undermine this administration in the eyes of the world.
To: cyncooper
What???? Did they just say that at the end of the session they'll take questions from general members of the House? Oh great.
To: ken5050
Oh, I don't try to change the minds of the uncouth, who feel no shame at saying terrible things about our president to me. I just say "I don't feel the same way as you do about that, and I really would appreciate it, if you would not make those remarks in front of me." Sort of making it a workplace "issue" in pc talk. Then if they want to talk specifics I will, but usually they just shut up, and soon other people give a secret high-sign that they are closet conservatives, too.
Just like Rush tapped into a nation-wide group of disenfranchised conservatives when he went national, I believe that there are a lot more conservative people around, who just think they are an anomaly. I like to encourage them not to cede the "accepted wisdom" to the left.

When a 4 star says that there was a lack of leadership, I see a reserve general getting courtmartialed, and a few staff sgts and ComSgt courtmartialed.
It will still be a circus 6 months on - thanks to the media.
