The DC Chapter of Free Republic set up a Viet-Cong Vets for Kerry bake sale in front of Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry's national headquarters in Washington DC this afternoon. The Kerry campaign responded by calling the D.C. police to shut down the bake sale.
When the D.C. police arrived they ordered the DC Chapter to shut down the protest in 15 minutes or they would ticket them for occupying a public space without a permit. At that point the police would then disperse them themselves.
Due to the short notice, and the fact that it would be a small group, the DC Chapter did not apply for a permit.
Kristinn is scheduled to appear on Fox News this afternoon for an in-studio interview. The interview should air sometime between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm today. As more details become available, they will posted here.
Kudos to those that attended. The honor roll is Kristinn, Angelwood, TGSLTakoma, TBP, Trueblackman, and Staytrue.
Here is the link to the original announcement about the bake sale

I spent 2½ months in GA & FL for nothing...could have had a Bake Sale. Everyone knows that the secret to being a good cook is not to wear underwear.

LOL! I am in town! Why didn't ya let me in on this? It was a VERY last minute thing. abner made a great sign. It mimics the WAFFLE HOUSE sign perfectly. I had planned to go from bake sale to bake sale in Philly today, but I figured that Moby's restaurant was a target rich environment, so I replanned the mission and headed North without even having time to inform firebrand.
On the way, I called Kristinn and he relayed my destination to firebrand and the difference between her and my Time On Target was minimal. Turned out great, will write it up tomorrow. A rough day running up there and stress just negotiating Manhattan.
Al Franken came over to debate and I basically ignored him.

It's worse than that.
JOHN KERRY's 1971 Anti-American Soldier Testimony before the Fulbright Foreign Relations Committee was sponsored by Senator FULBRIGHT himself.
I believe that
by then BILL CLINTON was already in FULLBRIGHT's inner circle and/or on his Committee Staff.
The Enemy is now Within...
and always has been.

Your post at 38 made me laugh aloud - the dems can't even take the time to read the BIG print, just the word "Kerry" ...
These people are scary. I keep remembering that person in blubba's rope line who yelled a truism at him and he had the person arrested. Someone said, above, that kerry would be very heavy handed. Indeed. There's something about a lack of fair play, a lack of a sense of humor, and an inability to laugh at one's self, when combined with the scent and prospect of power, that can make a man pretty frightening.

Thanks, kristinn. After reading your description, my suspicion is that there is no such charge as the one you "weren't cited for," and that you probably could have stayed all night and all the next day without seeing a single met cop. If I had to bet, I'd say the police were running a bluff to placate Kerry's people.
Anyway, kudos for the splendid action!

I think we were both wrong, DR. See post 129. As I said in my reply to that post, I think the police ran a bluff to placate the Kerry campaign. They didn't issue a citation or even come back and enforce their "15-minute" ultimatum.

"Viet-Cong Vets for Kerry" could work real well as a t-shirt. Anybody doing that yet?

Did you bake the "3 scratches and you're out" Purple Heart Cookies from ... scratch?
You surely put a lot of work into this. Kudos.

I was "Ace of Spades" Saddam today. Have a "Playing Card" costume and used that with the mask today. I don't even know how it looks, there were no mirrors and no cameras with us. Hope it doesn't make my ass look big, the Hillary mask, THAT makes my ass look huge.
