A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Illustrating the size of Kerry's intelligence, perhaps?
Donald H. Rumsfeld was sworn in as the 21st Secretary of Defense on January 20, 2001. Before assuming his present post, the former Navy pilot had also served as the 13th Secretary of Defense, White House Chief of Staff, U.S. Ambassador to NATO, U.S. Congressman and chief executive officer of two Fortune 500 companies. (From Defenselink Military Bios)
Standing proud with his boss.
During his business career, Mr. Rumsfeld continued his public service in a variety of Federal posts, including:
· Member of the President's General Advisory Committee on Arms Control (1982 - 1986); · Special Presidential Envoy on the Law of the Sea Treaty (1982 - 1983); · Senior Advisor to the President's Panel on Strategic Systems (1983 - 1984); · Member of the U.S. Joint Advisory Commission on U.S./Japan Relations (1983 - 1984); · Special Presidential Envoy to the Middle East (1983 - 1984); · Member of the National Commission on Public Service (1987 - 1990); · Member of the National Economic Commission (1988 - 1989); · Member of the Board of Visitors of the National Defense University (1988 - 1992); · Member of the Commission on U.S./Japan Relations (1989 - 1991); and · Member of the U.S. Trade Deficit Review Commission (1999 - 2000).
(From Defenselink Military Bios)
Determined to make his point.
Did you know our Rummy is a poet? (From Poetry of Donald Rumsfeld):
The Unknown
As we know, There are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know There are known unknowns. That is to say We know there are some things We do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, The ones we dont know We dont know.
Feb. 12, 2002, Department of Defense news briefing
Or how about:
Happenings
Youre going to be told lots of things. You get told things every day that dont happen.
It doesnt seem to bother people, they dont Its printed in the press. The world thinks all these things happen. They never happened.
Everyones so eager to get the story Before in fact the storys there That the world is constantly being fed Things that havent happened.
All I can tell you is, It hasnt happened. Its going to happen.
Feb. 28, 2003, Department of Defense briefing
Of course these are parodies of actual quotes, but sometimes when he speaks it has a bit of a poetic ring, no?
It's easy to see his passion when he speaks.
Donald Rumsfeld has served us well as Secretary of Defense. I can't think of anyone more deserving of the title.
Rummy - you are *truly* one of the Finest!

Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

The title of this thread caught my eye. I smiled when I saw Rummy's "poem" in the opening. I remember when he did this and it was priceless!

There are known unknowns.

We hope that you'll check back with us often. We run several different features each week - along with our standing "Military Monday" salute each Monday that honors our esteemed military members.
When I get home, I'll have to post a picture of my Sylvie - vicious black 'n white that she is! :-)

Wonderful thread, Miss Dansy ... Rummy IS the coolest ... thanks for drawing our attention to his poetic phrasing ... a true warrior-poet ... and a faithful servant of his Nation.
Good afternoon to all our Hostesses ... you're the coolest, too.
Regards to all the Finest.
God bless America and death to all Her enemies ... and, wedgies to all of our elite press corps for badgering the President with their conceited stupidty and selfish agenda.

Just once - well, maybe a lot of times, I'd like to hear a reporter say something like...
"Mr. President. Reports have been coming in to the news desks throughout America that the American People whole-heartedly support the War on Terrorism."
"How do you respond to such and attack on the credibility of the news media?"
