This is the first spot where Condi fumbled the ball slightly. This, I think, was served up by Thompson so that she would say the reponse to the Cole was a half-measure (missiles up a camel's butt). She then should have said that this President would not respond with half-measures.

The Bush administration took office four months after the attack on the USS Cole. Condi should have stated the obvious, i..e, how do you link a response four months after the event. The time to respond is immediately. Moreover, the East Embassy bombings killed almost 250 people and injured more that 5,000. That was cause enough to go to war. No need to wait the Cole attack to respond.
