I'll pass on IDF-style... if we did that, we'd make a symbolic attack then pull out and let the problem fester some more. No thanks to that.

where is our readiness to quell such uprising from the air so our guys don't suffer large numbers of casualties.
Im sure if they thought they could do it from the air they would, but for the most part these guys probably blend in with anyone else, and dont have fixed positions. We could just blow up a few city blocks, but we would kill a hell of a lot of innocents and that would just create an even larger Sheite militia.
To: Dog
we seem to not be using armor or air power in this, and we are taking alot of ground casualties. i don't like it, it smells like one of these PC "don't hurt the children" things. its one thing to not target civilians, no one is for that, but this just seems to be on the opposite extreme. it sounds worse then the initial advances to take the country were.

MOABs are useful on large concentrated targets not a few guerrillas skirmishing with the Marines. Why do you guys want to spoil all the Marines' fun? Party poopers.

We sit on our hands when every other month is a "holy" month for the Islamics. Where is the outrage?
Exactly, we need to quite being a PC military and kick some @ss

Its time for some shock and awe. I think we need to quit being P.C. It just gets our troops killed, and clean house. Let's Roll!

Uh huh. How old are you Oh your right. We should arrest them and then we will end up releasing them after the new govt takes place in June. Yeah....by that time they will have come to accept Democracy...right?
PLEASE! Did we take prisioners in WW2? Some sure...but overall if people fought us we fought back to win and winning meant that you keep shooting until the OTHER SIDE wasnt fighting back anymore.
These people ONLY understand swift violence and right now we are being looked upon as weak.
To: Blue Scourge
Our boys probably have gotten a little tired of being picked off one or two at a time with roadside bombs for the past several months.
Today they are taking those guys on.
Good hunting!

Where is the outrage? It's there. I think we are known for doing a "slow burn."

It's not uncommon for civil war/ insurgency to break out in a recently defeated and occupied country. It would appear the Sadr-ists and Sadaamists are launching that now. We should be able to prevail considering we were able to overcome the previous Iraq armed forces. But the conflict will be fierce and bloody. It may require additional troops to truly defeat these areas, which were not sufficiently subdued in the initial warfare. The support of the majority Shiites and Kurds will be essential.
This is the real world that a great power has to operate in to survive. There will be significant losses on both sides. May God protect our soldiers and give America the strength and wisdom to prevail.

If they had a checkoff on the 1040 form like the ones on the CA tax forms, I'd contribute $50 to help buy a MOAB...

I just heard it too on FN.

I think your comments make sense, but when a firefight like this gets going, I expect innocents to flee the area. If we're getting heavy fire I say take the perps positions out.
This is all quite preliminary at this point. I'm just gravely concerned for our men's safety. We put them there, and I want to make sure there aren't any more Mogadishus.
To: in the Arena
This will not stop the Marines from taking care of business in Fallujah. Apparently you believe we have a Boy Scout troop to cover all of Iraq.
