he's calling for all of this "predicting". everything that happens must be "predicted" in advance, or its declared a failure.

The pro v anti O'Reilly battle seems to rage on forever on FReep...I find him both irritating and gratifying, often both in the same program.

The way I look at it, there are very few people on popular, large viewer television who will take on Jesse Jackson, call Hilary Clinton a coward for not appearing on his show, take on the various so-called relief agencies, Al Gore and many others. For this I watch him...but my wife often does tell me to "calm down" when I start yelling at him.

I guess that is why he is so popular. The neat thing about Bill is, there is a little button on your remote that allows you to switch to Animal Planet, Dan Rather, or CNN if you so choose.

A while back this Administration made a conscious decision to save the West almost singlehandedly and this is the how and why of it.

Watching this Shiite paramiltary unit pop up got me thinking. These were people held in check by Saddam's ethnically kindred security force. What changed to cause the Administration to move on Iraq like it did.

What I now believe is we were in a race to get control of the region before a potent rival took up residence. I believe Saddam's rule was about up. As you can see, Iran had set up shop in the Shia neighborhoods of Iraq waiting patiently like the vulture to swoop. The sons were lightweights prone to squabbles and stupidity (aka Sonny and Fredo). When the old man took the hit or died naturally, these dirtbags were going to make their move.

So where does that leave you Uncle? Unwilling to cede 16% of the worlds proven reserves to a nation already sick with petro carbons, Iran. We moved before the Mullahs proxied a repeat of the Iranian revolution in 1976. We geopolitacally checkmated the farking mullahs. Remember the Iranian human wave attacks on Iraq in the 80's. They have had their designs on Mesopotamia for quite a while now.

I say good for us. We farked up their plan. Anyone who thinks having the Islamic Republic of Iran cornering a near monopoly on the oil and gas markets is a chump.

Iran is the historical enemy of the west. There are no other major regional battles that extend beyond the history of Persia and the west. Look it up. And grow a farking spine about your fate in this world.

Frankly Dane,

I feel you are making unfair assumptions here.

Military people might be clued in. Military people might be clued out. Civilians might be clued in. Civilians might be clued out.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Cheers.

I detest that attitude that since we don't know the future we didn't plan. Yeesh. Wars are *all about* surprises.

When did that attitude get any traction? Why is it that blowhards always seem to think that perfect information is there for the taking?

I'd love to hear them ask him how much time he spent learning military tactics and where did he learn them?

I forget who it was, but someone did ask him that yesterday I believe it was.

They are trying to shake our resolve, with assistance from our own media. Are you going to let them? Or, will you put your heads back on straight, and stop acting like flags in the wind, flapping with every breeze from the media?

BTTT...Can't be said enough...

I rather enjoyed watching O'Reilly's "discussion" with Bret Baier...Bret tried to explain a few things to O'Reilly, but of course Bill Knows All...Bret finally quit talking and just sat there with a "yeah, yeah, yeah" half-smile on his face.

Yes, I know it would. I found it very moving..the small British town trying to carry on amidst war. I especially found the scene of their worship in the ruins of their centuries-old little church very moving.

Everyone should see "Mrs. Miniver." Especially Bill O'Reilly!!!

"McInerney got mad ....you could see it....why does O'Rielly even have guests if he grandstands.....then won't let them talk."

I'm glad I missed it. I knew what he'd do so I tended to a few things outside when I came back inside he was taking credit for Cardinal Law in Boston stepping down.... Of course, he also takes credit for the successful boycott of all things french, too. Now he is trashing our efforts in Iraq, apparently, he knows more than all the Pentagon planners or the officers in country. He must be some view from that Ivory Tower of his.

I work in the shadow of Las Tortalas...6,300 meters. On your map, look for a pass to Argentina called "Aguas Negras"...I'm about 20 clicks north of the pass. I actually live in La Serena.

Yes they are, that still doesn't make them experts in double guessing the brave men out in the field, though, IMO.

I wasn't addressing you with the spine comment. I cut this from an argument I was presenting to some liberals and forgot to edit out the inappropriate parts. Sorry bout that.

But I believe the rest to be true. Afghanistan would have completed the fundamental Islamic Arc from Beirut to Islamabad. We blew that plan apart.
