WASHINGTON -- Lam Nguyen's job is to sit for hours in a chilly, quiet room devoid of any color but gray and look at pornography. This job, which Nguyen does earnestly from 9 to 5, surrounded by a half-dozen other "computer forensic specialists" like him, has become the focal point of the Justice Department's operation to rid the world of porn.
In this field office in Washington, 32 prosecutors, investigators and a handful of FBI agents are spending millions of dollars to bring anti-obscenity cases to courthouses across the country for the first time in 10 years. Nothing is off limits, they warn, even soft-core cable programs such as HBO's long-running Real Sex or the adult movies widely offered in rooms of major hotel chains.
Department officials say they will send "ripples" through an industry that has proliferated on the Internet and grown into an estimated $10 billion-a-year colossus profiting Fortune 500 corporations such as Comcast, which offers hard-core movies on a pay-per-view channel.

Its impossible to isolate a single reason for the decline,So there's no evidence that porn is related to sex crimes.
but it does suggest that tougher sentences and national education programs by RAINN and rape crisis centers and others are having an effect."
Tougher sentences for sex crimes, not for porn.

South Park?Remember the disclaimer at the beginning of every episode of South Park. That it "should not be watched by anyone."

BTW, you might want to read up on what rape is. Porn, we know, is about sex. But forced rape is not about sex -- it is about power. Try to make a logical connection.

Try reading the Bible when you're not high on pot. You might actually start figuring things out...

There is nothing, absolutely nothing good about porn and prostitution.I didn't make that claim. What I did say is that porn was the driving force in commercialization of "home entertainment" in video and DVD, as well as affordable, high speed Internet access.

Porn is understood to be like a narcotic in the sense that one develops a tolerance and needs a more intense dose to get the old thrill. It is insidious and deadly to the soul.

And you can think of no positive examples at all? Are you just plain rebellious against any governing authorityNo, not all governing authority. But I am wary of any authority. Whether it was the Reno DOJ and what they did in Waco "For the Children," Elian Gonzales, or how the Jews dutifully marched into box cars to be resettled in the 1930's and 1940's.

Try reading the Bible when you're not high on pot. Where did you ever get the pot thing from?

Okay, okay, after three times we got it already! :^)

BTW, it shouldn't be hard for Jim to put in a multi-post detector in Perl. I wonder why he hasn't done that already.

Yep, happens to the best of us sometimes. Sorry.

If it talks like one and thinks like one it must be one... So love for freedom, distrust of government, and refusal to accept unsupported claims constitutes drug use? Most FReepers must be potheads then.
But if you want to know, yes pot should be legal. No I do not do it. My drugs are the rare bit of alcohol, caffeine, some nicotine (which people who think like you are trying to ban) and the occasional ibuprofen.
To: antiRepublicrat
Where did you ever get the pot thing from? Since you believe in the 1st Amendment, they probably think you're a libertarian.

But if you want to know, yes pot should be legal. There you go! Another one. You guys won't give up until you have nailed another stake through this nation's heart.
Porn, marijuana, infect the very soul of this nation and you want to make it more easily available to vulnerable Americans...hey, another Libertarian who can't resist the lure of the Leftist agenda.

A War on Child Porn has an immediate and non-consenting victim. Given that fact, it is worth the resources to fight it even though we may never win. FINALLY a libertarian admits that some "War on..." (and a moral crusade at that) is worth fighting even if it cannot be "won".
And where does consent come into this? You said that the age of consent in some Scandavian child porn producing countries was lower.
Either the minors can consent to the act (meaning that they are not "victims") or they can't (meaning it is rape).
