America no longer white, united, English-speaking
The Miami Herald ^ | 02 April 2004 | Patrick J. Buchanan

Posted on 04/03/2004 11:22:26 AM PST by MegaSilver

In 1960, when JFK defeated Nixon, America was a nation of 160 million, 90 percent white and 10 percent black, with a few million Hispanics and Asians sprinkled among us.

We were one nation, one people. We worshipped the same God, spoke the same English language, studied American history and English literature, honored the same heroes, read the same books, watched the same TV shows, went to the same movies and saw ourselves as defenders of Western civilization against the godless communism of the Soviet Empire.

We were confident and proud of who we were. That was yesterday. But due to the Immigration Act of 1965 and the cultural revolution of the '60s, that America is now gone forever. And as one studies the latest projections of the Census Bureau, the America of our grandchildren will be another country altogether, a nation unrecognizable to our parents, a giant Brazil of the North.

In 2050, there will be three times as many people living here as in 1960 -- 420 million. White Americans will be a minority, 49 percent, and falling. Hispanics in the United States, more than 100 million, will be equal to the population of today's Mexico. Our Asian population will be almost as large as our African-American population today.

By countries of origin, America will be a Third World nation. Our cities will look like Los Angeles today. Los Angeles and the cities of Texas, Arizona and California will look like Mexico City.

Writing in Foreign Policy, Harvard Professor Samuel Huntington, author of Who We Are, raises an alarm about the huge infusion of Hispanics into the Southwest, and for many reasons.

Much of this mass immigration is illegal. Vast numbers are coming here only to work. They are not assimilating. They do not want to become Americans. They are concentrating in states bordering Mexico, which is their country and a nation with a historic grievance against us. They are holding on to their language and culture, creating a Hispanic nation within our nation. By 2050, there will be scores of millions of people living here whose loyalty is to a foreign country.

Moreover, as multiculturalism has captured our schools and colleges, immigrant children will have prejudices and grievances against America and the West reinforced as they learn. The academic elite that controls these schools already paints America as a nation with a rancid history of genocide, slavery, racism, oppression and imperialism.

Is the Census Bureau future the future that Americans wish? No. Are they willing to risk it for their grandchildren? No.

Why, then, does that future appear inevitable?

Answer: Though a majority of Americans wish to preserve the land they grew up in for their children, our elites -- political, academic, cultural and corporate -- are either unwilling to conserve that America or indifferent to its disappearance.

Most Americans want immigration cut back and all illegal aliens sent back. Why is the will of the majority, expressed in polls and referenda, not reflected in law or policy? Because we no longer live in a democratic republic; we are ruled by a managerial elite.

America's corporate elites want an endless supply of cheap labor. Our judges throw out popularly enacted laws to which they object. Our academic elites work to see ''white, racist America'' disappear. Our neo-Marxist cultural elites wish to be the gravediggers of the West and of Christian culture. And America's conservative party, the Republican Party, believes that Hispanics hold the key to retention of presidential power and is anxious not to offend Mexican President Vicente Fox.

If, by 2050, the America we grew up in has become a Tower of Babel of squabbling minorities that is falling apart, it will be because of the treason of the elites, and our lack of will to overthrow them.

SORRY, 'Pat is--at Least--Partly Right!

In the '60's, "Sesue Hayakawa" (UCAL BERKELEY) Taught a "Course" about "General Semantics."

Part of the ESSENCE of His "Teachings" was that, "The Language that you Think ESTABLISHES your concept of Reality!!"

The "JerKWeeds" who wish to Harm Us (encouraged by ILLITERATE, IGNORANT "Imams," who are USUALLY incapable of reading "The Koran," BUT--BY DAMN SURE--"KNOW" what the "Koran" says!!)

Of course he is. I don't agree with everything Pat says, but his position, and many of his points are right in the ten ring.

Root races are generally refered to using their skin color. There are other differences.

Fringes have mixed. The vast population of each people hasn't. It's clear enough from observation.

Hell, many if not most Jews will not even marry a non-Jew without conversion (not that I blame them) and you wish to preach to me about identity egalitarianism...please.

50% of Jews in the U.S. marry non-Jews, I am not sure what the number is in Israel (of course it would be lower since it is a Jewish nation). Any prohibition of marrying gentiles has been largely ignored.

but not through an almost 50-50 Senate.

Thats my point. The McCains and the Snowes are hardly what I would call reliable conservative or even moderates republicans. I believe we'll be seeing more RHINOs like them but I hope I'm wrong.

you tried to do by masking the publication date of your original reply.

I've seen hundreds of post with links not referencing a date and it hardly makes a difference, most immigrants are breaking toward the Democratic party as the article states. You've yet to give me an answer in why I would have brought the date up if I was trying to mask it.

Have fun watching your contemporaries on AMC.

I'll take that as a compliment. Compared to todays filthy entertainment, they were geniuses.

That may be but the majority of goys I've known who married jews converted usually at the insistence of the jew's parents.

I have a lot of experience in Israel (in fact I have an invitation to a wedding of two Israelis in NYC on my desk in front of me) and I've found the ones I know most often married other jews. I can only think of one jew out of the 50-100 I've known who married outside the faith to someone who did not convert and the one I do know was a young girl whose jewish parents abandoned her....yes, another rather unusual thing for a jewish family.

However, I'm 46....that is at least one generation away from marrying age generation and the younger jews likely are behaving as you say.

Btw...I always admired Jewish marital preservation....I think it's fine and is ok for anyone who feels that way.

Feeling otherwise is obviously okk too i suppose.

(that reminds me of the DNC commercial where the gay guy is complaining about "they want to tell me who I can marry" on MTV...lol)

You're a bit all over the map on this thread. That's OK, but I am not sure what your bottom line is.

Here is how I see it. The die is cast. America is going to become less white. Indeed, without robust immigration, America's "virtu" (I am using the term in the Greek manner) over time I suspect would degrade. Immigration, and the makeover of America, time and again, ever stronger and more robust, is part of the American story. In any event, even if one has angst this time, because this time it is different, there is no stopping the train. The trick is to make the train end up at a favorable station.

As for American Jews, and intermarriage, the stats I have read is that the rate of assimilation is catastrophic for those wishing to preserve a Jewish qua Jewish identity and demographic. About a third of Jews in each generation lose their Jewish identity via their kids and grandkids. The absolute number of Americans who identify themselves as Jewish in America is slowly declining, despite some Jewish immigration from abroad.

Today is better than yesterday and personally I have no desire to return to the good ole days.

People who live in southern California don't think today is better than yesterday. Yesterday it was possible to send one's children to the public schools and actually have them learn something. Yesterday, half the population wasn't receiving government checks, having babies on the taxpayer or collecting AFDF. Yesterday, you didn't have to pay $700,000 to buy a three bedroom tract house. Yesterday, it was actually possible to get around on city streets without having to wait two or three light changes to get through an intersection. Yesterday, when you dialed a government office, it was possible to understand the person who answered.

The only folks that can afford to live in Los Gatos are drug king pins, internet stock manipulators, trust fund babies, and CIA operatives who know too much. :) I must get to Costa Rica before I lose my sentience. Maybe I will induce my bird watcher brother to tag along.

Ya, and the smog is way down, the city is more cosmopolitan, and it is easier to earn a very good living with the right skills, and the schools in the right zip codes are better than ever. But the place is worse for the lower middle class. Definitely. That is why they are decamping, and being replaced, by those willing to start at the bottom, and move on up. It is part of the cycle of large metro areas as they mature.

That lower middle class includes many young couples with children who, if they're fortunate enough to own a starter home, are paying very high taxes for a home located not far from a slum, often with twenty illegal aliens living next door, and the local school is overburdened with kids of illegal aliens. If by chance they must take one of their kids to an emergency room, they should be prepared to wait for the hordes of illegal aliens using the facility to be treated, free.

This scenario is causing much resentment, because these young homeowners/taxpayers/citizens realize that they're the ones paying for the mess. The illegals sure aren't. Illegal aliens are sucking California's social services dry without a peep from the politicians.

Property taxes in California are about the lowest in the nation. Try again. The lower middle class is decamping to the exurbs and the central valley, etc., or to other Western states. That has been the trend most places since rocks cooled.

If you believe the article is racist, then for me, please define racism. After you define it then reexamine your statement. I think you may be wrong on this. Just a thought, but, just because someone refers to race in terms that are unpleasant or hit you the wrong way does not make them racist. After all, affirmative action is racism by definition as it is a policy determined by race. Do you call all people who call for affirmative action, racists?

It's never been the life cycle of southern California that an ever increasing percentage of population is poor, uneducated and unable to speak the language of the country they were born in. That's not maturity. That's decay.

What Pat should have said is that no nation can become great and developed without a free and upwardly mobile citizenry. The fact that the poorest person can become rich through his own labors is what separates the developed countries from the others. When a nation keeps any of it's citizens from rising either through government force or government handouts its demise is soon to follow. Totalitarian and benevolent governments are the just opposite sides of the same coin.

By the way, you do know that the very rough, down and out, ghettos in Los Angeles are disappearing don't you? Some of the highest housing appreciation rates are in Watts.
