America no longer white, united, English-speaking

In 1960, when JFK defeated Nixon, America was a nation of 160 million, 90 percent white and 10 percent black, with a few million Hispanics and Asians sprinkled among us.
We were one nation, one people. We worshipped the same God, spoke the same English language, studied American history and English literature, honored the same heroes, read the same books, watched the same TV shows, went to the same movies and saw ourselves as defenders of Western civilization against the godless communism of the Soviet Empire.
We were confident and proud of who we were. That was yesterday. But due to the Immigration Act of 1965 and the cultural revolution of the '60s, that America is now gone forever. And as one studies the latest projections of the Census Bureau, the America of our grandchildren will be another country altogether, a nation unrecognizable to our parents, a giant Brazil of the North.
In 2050, there will be three times as many people living here as in 1960 -- 420 million. White Americans will be a minority, 49 percent, and falling. Hispanics in the United States, more than 100 million, will be equal to the population of today's Mexico. Our Asian population will be almost as large as our African-American population today.
By countries of origin, America will be a Third World nation. Our cities will look like Los Angeles today. Los Angeles and the cities of Texas, Arizona and California will look like Mexico City.
Writing in Foreign Policy, Harvard Professor Samuel Huntington, author of Who We Are, raises an alarm about the huge infusion of Hispanics into the Southwest, and for many reasons.
Much of this mass immigration is illegal. Vast numbers are coming here only to work. They are not assimilating. They do not want to become Americans. They are concentrating in states bordering Mexico, which is their country and a nation with a historic grievance against us. They are holding on to their language and culture, creating a Hispanic nation within our nation. By 2050, there will be scores of millions of people living here whose loyalty is to a foreign country.
Moreover, as multiculturalism has captured our schools and colleges, immigrant children will have prejudices and grievances against America and the West reinforced as they learn. The academic elite that controls these schools already paints America as a nation with a rancid history of genocide, slavery, racism, oppression and imperialism.
Is the Census Bureau future the future that Americans wish? No. Are they willing to risk it for their grandchildren? No.
Why, then, does that future appear inevitable?
Answer: Though a majority of Americans wish to preserve the land they grew up in for their children, our elites -- political, academic, cultural and corporate -- are either unwilling to conserve that America or indifferent to its disappearance.
Most Americans want immigration cut back and all illegal aliens sent back. Why is the will of the majority, expressed in polls and referenda, not reflected in law or policy? Because we no longer live in a democratic republic; we are ruled by a managerial elite.
America's corporate elites want an endless supply of cheap labor. Our judges throw out popularly enacted laws to which they object. Our academic elites work to see ''white, racist America'' disappear. Our neo-Marxist cultural elites wish to be the gravediggers of the West and of Christian culture. And America's conservative party, the Republican Party, believes that Hispanics hold the key to retention of presidential power and is anxious not to offend Mexican President Vicente Fox.
If, by 2050, the America we grew up in has become a Tower of Babel of squabbling minorities that is falling apart, it will be because of the treason of the elites, and our lack of will to overthrow them.

which by the death of Charles II had pretty much neutered the Brit monarchy.
Sorry about this, it's not relevant to the entire topic, but the British democratic process really came into being a little later than James IInd's rule -- specifically when they decided to choose the Georges from Hanover (German speakers who in the case of George I and II never learnt English and spent most of their time in Hanover) as their king

So many Norwegian farmers reading works of European enlightment philosophers?Actually you are quite funny.....educate yourself and go look up the ethnicities of free colonists here at the time of the revolution. Mostly English, Dutch, French Huguenots and a few others.....and the leaders were almost exclusively English descended.
The Nordic immigrants came about 50-70 years later.

The squalor, filth, and primitive existence so commonly found in Mexico is unheard of in Costa Rica.
And the GDP per cap of Costa Rica is only $8,300, when the GDP per cap of the US is $36,000. Costa Rica IS a developing nation, a poor nation with that kind of GDP per cap.

Coin toss. No -- for all the machinations that M/W wants to put out, "data" is the plural of "datum." M/W has been undermining the english language for quite some time, including such linguistic abortions as "prioritize."
Just because a handful of idiots use something wrong conistently and pervesively that doesn't bestow propriety.
Either something has meaning or it doesn't. Please don't feed me that "English is an evolving language" claptrap. English is a series of defined syntax and usage. Words OTOH either mean something or they don't.
Just yesterday I saw, IN PRINT, the term "mediums." I suppose you support this as well?

Well, the Dutch got to New York first, and Martin Van Buren was of Dutch descent. :) I think the general idea was that any immigration that was other than of Protestants from Northern Europe was problematical.
oh, no, the Dutch were verboten. Remember England and Holland went to war in the 1600s and 1700s -- that's when the terms to go Dutch and other disparaging remarks about the Dutch came into the English language.

Oh, I get it. You just play every moronic word game you can find. Take things literally that have no literal connection.

Mexico lacks that tradition and their citizens swarming here en masse lack that commonality with this nations founders who did the wonderful things you admire. Pat seems to suggest that such an issue is biological one rather than a cultural one. For example, Italians didn't have the Magna Carta as a heritage, but we don't worry about Italian-Americans and their descendants turning America into a papal state if they became too numerous. Same with the Irish and the Eastern Europeans. With Pat, it only seems to be the brown-skinned folk who can't handle democracy now or even generations hence.

My point is that when you pass the rascist word around so easily it begins to lose meaning, using the operational defination of racist as it is used in America today, 90% of the world qualifies as racist. As far as the genetic history of the human race goes to disqualify or quibble over racial designations, same thing...if there is no race, than there are no racists. Words mean things...or they don't. Hurling the word racist around as a way to intimidate people is nothing but intellectual boshelvism.
If you are not aware of it, you should be, that you cannot be a citizen of Japan unless you are racially Japanese. Koreans who have lived there for generations are not allowed to vote. Folks from the Indian sub-continent are different racially than the European folks, they would say so and so would nearly everyone else, except you I guess. I am aware of the genetic connection between the two peoples and between all of mankind for that matter..so your argument is that it is all an illusion..okay fine, but the folks in Asia, on the subcontinent, In Africa and in pretty much the entire world actually see, react to, and discuss these differences. Is it all a "white male" construct inflicted on these huge groups of people...China actually built a huge wall to keep immigrants out...I am quite aware oif inter-marriage between races and that is a good and fine thing my whole family is quite the rainbow, but that is irrelevant to our conversation.

European culture civilized this entire planet or at least tried.
That's an incorrect statement. European culture is derived from older cultures in the western half of Asia and north africa. Even the Greeks borrowed from the Egyptians and Persians. Europe was still a backwater in the 1700s. It did a lot of great things and did give the world a great culture, but it did NOT civilise the planet. That was done by the Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Persian, Indian, Chinese, Greek, Roman cultures from which Europe took knowledge and enhanced.
Maybe you're right when you mention South and West Africa, but in the rest of Eurasia that sentence is wrong.

While I don't particularly care for Patrick Buchanan, and the title of this piece is rather racist in tone, I'd say this is one of those times when he hits one home. Why do you think the title is racist in tone??
Are we that brainwashed that anytime we see the word 'white' in a headline that it must be seen as a pejorative.
Even if one does not want the country to be majority white, it is hard to argue against the inference of the headline that this country will no longer be as united or english speaking in the not too distant future.
By the way, I agree about Buchanan. He has lost nearly all his credibility, much back in the 1990s and the remainder as of late when he stepped up his venting against Israel.
This Buchanan article, however, is spot on the money.

I am familiar with the Brit dynasties and yes Hanoverian too.
I think the Old Pretender got a raw deal.
Charles II was the last real monarch when he dissolved parliament...that was my point.

Err, no, the folks from Iran and India ARE Aryanic in origin, that's the same Aryans the nazis thought THEY were. They are racially similar to the Russians and the Europeans and to their cousins, the Semites.
Culturally, that's a different matter.

True, a more correct term would be that the country would not be Anglo-Saxon in culture, united or English speaking.
