Al Franken-Fraud Air America Radio Link-LIVE THREAD Day 1

A Wonketeer writes, point your browser here (link) at noon and you will be able to listen to this crap fest yourself.
Don't do it before noon or you will be subjected to more 1950's music than you can handle.
When you think about it, it totally makes sense : Air America the liberal radio network, will not be broadcasting in the DC metro area.. DC went 70 percent for Gore! They don't need convincing.
We suspect that Air America will blow. Then again, it could suck.
Or perhaps it will achieve some mysterious simultaneous combination of the two. And while we are normally unopposed to mocking things that we have no direct knowledge of, this material seems rich.
For those of you who reside in one of the five areas covered by the Air America 'empire,' please send along your thoughts and comments.

Anyone want to speculate on how long it will be before "The O'Franken Factor" has its first of several format revamps as it spirals down into the garbage disposal of liberal failures? I'm wondering if O'Franken will drop a few F-bombs or such language in an attempt to enrage the Right and further the culture wars? It would be a very Liberal way of getting people to talk about him and his show. Plus, it's a way to force Powell and the FCC into the mix as a dig at Bush.

I was surprised how bad Franken was today. His voice was heavy and slow. He made mistakes. He sounded as if he'd been up all night drinking scotch and was talking through a hangover or sleeping pills. I'm not talking so much about his politics as his voice, his technique, his "instrument" (as they say in acting classes). He's hard to listen to, no matter what he's saying. He stumbles. His jokes fall flat. You have the feeling of his searching for the right word (and not finding it). If today's performance is any indication, he's not a threat to Tiny Tim, let alone Rush Limbaugh.
One final thing. Their technicians are not up to stuff either. There was such a long pause between segments of the show I was wondering if someone blew up their transmitter. Then when the sound did come on it was the middle of a commerical. That lasted for three seconds. Then another pause and finally a commerical again (this time from the start). My local college station runs affairs a lot better than that.

hi, can you ping me that picture? thanks :)

The funny part is how close it sounds to Rush's parody of the Tom Daschle doing the show. Bingo!! That's exactly what I was thinking ten minutes into his show, then turned it off. I suppose to the libs tho' it was just scintillating.

Franken is a snore and does not have the flow of Rush... Boy, you hit that nail right on the head. It's hard to listen to Franken talk, no matter what he's saying. It's his voice, his hesitation, his stumbling. He sounded drunk or hung-over to me (or maybe it's just the unaccustomed burden of having to think on his feet).
Franken once wrote a book calling Limbaugh a big fat liar. Judging from his photo he's considerably fatter than Limbaugh ("Al Franken Is a Big Fat Fraud?"

Reminds me of the premier show for Mario Cuomo .. a very enthusiast NY caller said (and I paraphrase) ... "Oh, governor, I am soooooooo thrilled that you are on radio now in New York, this is very exciting" to which a beaming Mario said "Thank you.. yada yada" and the caller continued saying "because now you are no longer in the Governor's Mansion!" not what Mario was expecting ... and kinda spelled doom from his first call.

That's why I turned it off. He has no flow, and his thoughts are disorganized. Franken has a face for radio most definately.

The bumper music Franken has is perfect. It so identifies who he is-- an absolute 1960s retread. Enough with Vietnam and the Grateful Dead already. These people are so boring and bizarrely narcissistic.

I listened for a while and found it pretty sophomoric, especially the Ann Coulter locked in a closet bit.
All in all it sounded just like any other NPR show but just not as funny.

Some of the DUmmies were watching us watching them and checking out this thread to see what we thought of their new access to the airwaves. I don't know what thread they were reading, but it sure didn't sound like this one.
One of the DUmmies says he hopes we "f*ing hate it" and "we sound scared as hell"!! I read thru this whole damn thread and I didn't see ONE frightened response!
Those idiots better lay off the dope, they're delusional!

I was back and forth between here and DUH-ville, and the only thread a saw started in "breaking news" and was later moved to "discussion." That thread only went through the 1st hour and had less than 60 posts. They were so disheartened, they abandoned it.

I normally like to listen to liberals on the radio just to try to get more insight into their bent logic and for the entertainment value. But this show was absolutely unlistenable.
Screeching fingernails on the blackboard was more ear pleasing than this.
No passion, no fire, no innovation, no drive, no vision, no desire, no enthusiasm = no future.

"Killer Chris" on the old Adelphia College "Metal Shop" show is El Rushbo compared to Al Frankenstein. Hell, me and my sister did better radio shows on our Fisher Price tape recorder from our basement in Malverne.
