Likely Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry claimed Tuesday night that he's a big fan of rap and hip-hop music.
The straight-laced Beacon Hill blue-blood who married into the $700 million Heinz ketchup fortune told MTV, "I'm fascinated by rap and by hip-hop. I think that there's a lot of poetry in it. There's a lot of anger - a lot of social energy in it."
Kerry said America's leaders disregard rap music at their peril, telling MTV, "I think you better listen to it pretty carefully because it's important."
Asked about some of the more outrageous lyrics in today's rap songs, Kerry replied, "Do I think some lyrics in some songs have stepped over what I consider to be a reasonable line? Yeah, I do."
He then explained, "I think when you start, you know, talking about killing cops or something like that, it bothers me."
Still, Kerry defended the gangsta rap genre, telling MTV, "I'm still listening because I know that it's a reflection of the street and it's a reflection of life. And I understand all that."

"I think when you start, you know, talking about killing cops or something like that, it bothers me."
What strikes me about this statement, above the hypocrisy of it all, is the word "bother". Didn't he use that in describing the movie the "Passion of the Christ". He must pull out that word when he feels especially wishy/washy.
It's one of those blueblood words that can be used in different forms, such as ...."TerYaySa, I caaaaan't be bothered by the working peons in this country, but they ARE votes".
I didn't watch him on MTV last night, didn't know if my TV could survive it in one piece.
Note to law enforcement officers in our country: Rest assured that Kerry is "bothered" by songs about cop killing.

No one likes a transparently phoney sycophant, John.
If Gideon Yago wasn't such a lefty himself, he should have put you on the spot and asked you to name some of your favorite rap and hip hop artists, albums, and songs. I'd love to see the 'deer in the headlights' look.
It would be just like when Al Gore was sucking up to Courtney Love saying he was such a big fan. Courtney rolled her eyes and said, "Oh yeah, name one of my songs." Gore responded with a blank stare.

He then explained, "I think when you start, you know, talking about killing cops or something like that, it bothers me." Gee, John. If you thought about killing Senators, why would killing cops bother you??

"I know that it's a reflection of the street and it's a reflection of life. And I understand all that." He's honest folks. Look at all the big-pimping, playa, bling bling, cronies being shown on MTV and a billionaire gigolo like John Freestyle Kerry knows exactly what's goin' down on the street.

When he was in the radical leftist movement in the 1970s, did he ever publicly speak out against killing cops? Did he criticize the Weathermen, the Black Panther Party, the SLA?
Did he even bother to ever denounce Ice-T's Cop Killer album?
