The recent assassination of Sheik Saruman raises among some Americans the question - how the hell did they get Saruman? I thought wizards were immortal!

"Already posted"

As if I care.

It was only an excerpt anyway.

When should we stop supporting Israel?

Never. Israel is the only Democracy in the hateful ME. The Arabs just would love to spread their tyranny to every nation on the globe.

I have more in life to worry about than the "posting police"

Im feel sorry for you if the only thing you have to look forward to is waiting to say "already posted"

Chances are, many people missed the original posting.

The recent assassination of Sheik Saruman raises among some Americans the question—at what point should we reconsider our rather blanket support for the Israelis and show a more even-handed attitude toward the Palestinians?

Why are we supposed to assume this is a bad thing and should be the basis of pulling support for Isreal?

I hope you just neglected the :-) at the end of this. This was a man that needed killing no matter his age.

I am among the many people who missed the original posting. Thank you for doing so. I find this interesting because it opens the whole question of foreign aid. In the context of the current economy, and also of what we are getting back, I wonder if we can afford it. Israel getting $4 billion is not the only question, but Egypt getting $3 billion, and the next and the next. This only adds to the deficit. Any measureable benefits must be balanced against the enormous cost.

Israel is the only Democracy in the hateful ME.

What is so democratic about a country where a massive number of people are treated as non humans, no vote, no say. I just do not see that as a democracy. If it was a true democracy the Palestinians would be granted citicenship and allowed to vote.

I wasn't aware of any desire on the part of Palestinians to join Israel as citizens, so why do they need to vote in Israeli elections. They almost had their own country, but their leadership realized that to abandon the sworn goal of the destruction of Israel for peace and security would not be acceptable to hardliners amongst the Palestinians. So, they chose to suffer and make others suffer. They had their say, their choice, and their choice is death, for everyone.

As if this were ever an option for them. Not quite. They were driven from their land when the UN took the land they were living on and created Israel. They have been with out a say, without a vote ever since.

Actually, when Israel was created, the Palestinians were given Jordan.

Unfortunately for them, they were such pains-in-the-backside that the Jordanians threw them out.

Even their fellow A-rabs can't get along with them.

Using a US paid for Cobra helicopter to rocket an old man in a wheel chair is over the top.

You're right.

It would have been far more cost-effective to just pop a couple of rounds into his head and toss him into the ocean.
