FR DNS problems...
today

DNS lookups failing for FR here - no such host. Apparently I'm not the only one, judging from a glance at the Yahoo FR board. Dunno if it's my ISP (Verizon) or what, but I had to manually edit the hosts file to get here. Presumably, if you can post, you're not having this problem, but there are more than a few people who can't post right now because of it...

If I click Save As... it doesn't save this page as HTML for some reason. I have to add the extension before I can read it offline.

Everybody is so nice; makes me want to be nicer, too. I'm going to go pet my sweet Labweiler (Rottador?) just because you made me feel all warm and fuzzy. I thank you, and the doggie thanks you!!

They seemed so happy that FR is having a problem. So I knew they'd be reading this thread. If I take a few shots that would have gone your way, I can handle that.

For some reason, I am under the impression that all of the magic is done in perl rather then something more recent like php or the like.
I've often wondered what type of computing power and disk space and network bandwidth is needed to keep this site humming.
As you say - it is quite well done. Wonder if JR is a perl hacker!

I do know they wrote their own software. Probably would sell it for the right price too.

Hi GL, I didn't go to DU, but I always know that TLBSHOW will be 'up' on what is happening here and he always posts the URL. Otherwise I wouldn't have got here!! ROFLMAO.
I was wondering today if there was anybody on EARTH more upset about FR being down that Toadie! What DID he do, as we all know he's incapable of actually generating anything original!

I haven't gone to Canada to visit in a while, but used to enjoy the Kooteny (sp)Lakes and Ainsworth hotsprings :)

I glanced at it today and was surprised at the postings. Sounded like DU cousins...

Yep. The 'Bikers Bar', which I call the Amen Chorus is hard to tell apart from DU. And that little site called FU (freedomunderground) is just an FR wanna-be that acts just like the LP, and has less than a dozen active members.

I hate to see bannings, but I also dislike cranky posters. Some of those places are ruthless. (shudder)

Oh, I already saw that one.......some nut was kind enough to tack it on to the end of the latest in the series of threads Todd does about ME at LP...........LOL.
Some of my so-called "friends" at FR are kind enough to send me the links for them all. *sigh*

My favorite thing to read at LP -- especially after sifting through some of the trash -- is to come upon a poster -- and there always IS one -- who posts:
"Gosh, I love this place. It's JUST like FR use to be."
:-)

Yep... it looks like Nopardons and JimRob get attacked more than you, at least this week.
I might get some tomorrow... which is what I was aiming for. =o)
